A short-handed Friends Select squad defeated Haverford School 57-49 and again on Saturday one of the best uncommitted 2023s in the region stood out.
Below is a look at a few of the college prospects who took the court on Saturday for the Friends Select at Haverford School contest.
Haverford School:
Emmanuel Butts Emmanuel Butts 6'6" | PF Haverford School | 2026 State PA – 6’6” / Freshman / Philly Pride National / Small Forward: This wiry 2026 prospect is receiving significant minutes for the Fords, and it is easy to see why. Butts is a force on the glass and can operate in the paint or in the mid-range. As his shooting and handles develop, Butts could someday become a primary scoring option.
KJ Carson KJ Carson 6'0" | CG Haverford School | 2025 State PA – 6’0” / Sophomore / Penn Warriors / Combo Guard: After a monster summer, this three-level scorer is off to quick start in2022-23. He scored 10 points in this one, but his slick handles and basketball instincts were even more impressive. Additionally, Carson showed that he is a two-way guard who is willing to defend for 94 feet.
Silas Graham Silas Graham 6'4" | CG Haverford | 2027 PA – 6’2” / 8th Grade / Philly Pride National / Combo Guard: Graham is another of Haverford’s underclassmen who is seeing minutes this season. He is a quick and shifty prospect who excels in transition. That quickness, combined with his reach and anticipation skills enable Graham to frequently produce steals and deflections.
Luke Rasmussen Luke Rasmussen 6'6" | PF Haverford School | 2023 State PA – 6’6″ / Senior / Haverford School / East Coast Power / Wing: Rasmussenhad an impact on every facet of this game, and it is a mystery to us how this kid remains uncommitted. He posted 18 points (3 threes), grabbed a slew of rebounds, played with poise, and displayed a high basketball IQ. On defense his length is a problem for opponents.
Billy Rayer Billy Rayer 5'10" | PG Haverford Boys | 2024 State PA – 5’10” / Junior / East Coast Power / Point Guard: Rayer had a quiet scoring day (3 points), but he did an outstanding job of running the team. The threat of Rayer’s three-point shooting stretches the floor and creates opportunities for his teammates. He is a pass first lead guard who rarely makes a mistake.
Friends Select:
Jalen Chiles Jalen Chiles 6'1" | PG Friends Select | 2025 State PA – 5’11″ / Sophomore / BW Elite / Combo Guard: Simply put, Chiles (5 pts.) dictated the tempo of this game. When the opportunity presented itself, he pushed the rock for easy buckets. When the Falcons needed to a solid half-court possession, he recognized that fact and got them into their sets. His composure during Haverford’s late game attempted comeback was also impressive. This lefty owns a smooth jumper too.
Niymire Brown Niymire Brown 6'4" | SF Upper Darby | 2023 State PA – 6’7” / Senior / Friends Select / We R1 / Wing: We know Kirkland holds offers from Fairfield and Rider, but college coaches are still sleeping on this prospect. The Lamar Odom comparisons are extremely accurate, as Kirkland can do everything on the basketball court. Plus, he is more athletic and more explosive than Odom. If he continues to develop his 3-point shooting, Kirkland could be a versatile point-forward or an effective stretch-4 at the next level. Kirkland (22 pts.) remains one of the top uncommitted 2023s in the region.
Isaiah Marshall Isaiah Marshall 6'2" | CG Friends Select | 2025 State PA – 6’2″ / Sophomore / PA Royals / Combo Guard: Marshall (18 pts.) plays a downhill, attacking style of ball. He is an extremely athletic prospect who can get out on the fast break and finish through contact. He appears to have refined his 3-ball stroke which enabled him to knock home 2 triples in this contest.
