"Look at me.... I am the captain now!"

Rickey Mitchel is the captain of the ship now. He makes the Buffaloes offense flow and is aggressive when he gets to the paint, dunking at will. He finishes in traffic and gets his teammates involved. He is a walking bucket and is the key factor in what is a somewhat young team. I think this kid could average 30, his game is that fluent on the perimeter and in the paint. If Mitchell can keep this momentum going I don't see too many more kids better than him at this point in the year. Definitely one of the best guards in the state in my opinion.

[player_tooltip player_id='1509229' first='Kai' last='McGrew'] is the biggest unknow/biggest upside for Smoky this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1509229' first='Kai' last='McGrew'] is the biggest unknown of the season based on him being a freshman. If he can continue to play like he did against Kent Denver then he will have a great freshman campaign. This kid is a physical freak. He had a crazy poster dunk, putting a kid in the basket at the beginning of the fourth quarter that fueled the Buffaloes offense after. He has a presence on the defensive side as well so if he can stay consistent he can definitely contribute to this Buffaloes team, this is also why I see him as a player with the biggest upside.

[player_tooltip player_id='1369816' first='Lorenzo' last='Contreras'] can make things happen.

[player_tooltip player_id='1369816' first='Lorenzo' last='Contreras'] is a player with a lot of upside for the Buffaloes. He can make an impact on both sides of the ball and is very aggressive on defense as well. He made it difficult on the Kent Denver offense, pressuring them at half court and forcing some ill-advised passes. He can be a good compliment to [player_tooltip player_id='972419' first='Rickey' last='Mitchell'] who is a walking bucket and can be a good change of pace guard being quick and shifty. He can finish in traffic with the towering players and can hit his shots at the free throw line as well.

Ibraheem Sylla is the glue holding it together.

Ibraheem Sylla is the defensive anchor for Smoky Hill. He as well as some of his other teammates were a little out of shape for their first game and were cramping. If he can get into shape I think that he will have a great contribution on defense. He had a couple of blocks against Kent Denver and made it difficult on the offence to get anything inside. He is big and physical and grabs rebounds with ease. I think he will leave his mark anchoring this defense and making momentum changing plays on that side of the ball.

Kent Denver driving force made an impact

[player_tooltip player_id='1420189' first='Jay' last='Royal'] is Kent Denver most dynamic x- factor. He started the game off with the sun devils first 9 points. He plays with a lot of confidence and swagger. He can make you pay from three and he is a great free throw shooter. Will have to get his other teammates involved early so they can get into the rhythm of the game. Royal will be the difference maker for the sun devils and will need to step up in a big way.
