is the top prospect in the 2024 class, and rightfully so. The six-foot-two-inch point guard from Bloomington Jefferson and Howard Pulley Hoops had all his skills on full display. The explosiveness that makes him the top football prospect was evident on his breakaway slam as without the ball he was free to run and nobody was able to keep up. With the ball he drove left on one possession and just glided to the rim for a lay-up. When not getting clean looks at the rim, Freitag was either finishing through contact or drawing fouls. For the contest he shot 13 free throws making 10. Jefferson plays a bit different with Freitag getting multiple post touches because their lack of overall size, it is refreshing seeing Freitag able to do as much without the ball as he does with it. At the MBCA showcase watching him run the point, his game felt very reminiscent of former Pully guards Tyus and Tre Jones. Overall for the game Freitag scored a game 35 points and secured 7 rebounds.

play, all I hear is Mark Jackson says, “mama there goes that man.” Moore plays lightning quick, and just because that’s the pace Hopkins wants to play, it’s because Moore is just fast. He’s aggressive, full attack and go-go-go every possession, the 2026 Moore poured in 31 points, 20 in the first half, and grabbed 10 rebounds despite his size, five-foot-ten-inches tall. The freshman who’s been starting since last year when he was an 8th grader, has cemented himself as the leader at one of the biggest basketball schools, boys and girls in the state. Moore last year was getting by off sheer talent, he seemly has grow up to contend nightly with much more seasoned players.

stand open too long outside the 3-point line. The six-foot George Mason offered 2025 guard has shown off this short season that he can hit 3’s in bunches. Opening game knocking down 7, versus Jefferson Smith hit 4 3’s, most in the 2nd half. Smith like Moore plays extremely quick but certainly controlled, his game very similar to Trae Young’s, smallish guard but shoots it, and has good vision for teammates for easy scores. Smith’s quick hands and feet make up for any lack of size versus larger guards plus his unafraid attitude and confidence shine.

Marcus Horton, the former Minnehaha Academy guard quietly put together a solid showing versus Hopkins. Horton is a 2025 guard for Jefferson that scored 13 points including the 3-pointer below. Horton shooting mechanics look very solid, good follow through, solid straight-up shot motion. The sophomore displayed good instincts defensively and offensively put himself in good position to release catch and shoots 3’s, complementing Freitag very well.

rounded out Hopkins 3-headed attack with a very solid 16 point, 14 rebound performance. The six-foot-six-inch 2023 Senior was a force in the middle versus the undersized Jefferson team. As the role man with two dynamic guards, Hillesheim finds himself free inside to be a very productive forward. He has solid post moves and footwork, willing worker inside and on the perimeter as a screener. Can work the dribble hand-off, and showed enough presence inside to block a driving guard in the first half and second half.

Blake Mamalakis-Linderman is a six-foot-one-inch 2023 senior guard from Jefferson. With Freitag and the Horton, Mamalakis-Linderman did a solid job being a contributor and facilitator, scored 8 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and collected 6 assists. Mamalakis-Linderman made an outside to keep the defense honest, which kept him man close when he made entry passes to Freitag.
Two others who showed toughness and play their tails off throughout were Gavin Luick of Jefferson, a six-foot-three-inch Senior, and Jacob Rothman, a 2023 senior guard.
