As always, there is a loaded slate of games all across the state and our team at Prep Hoops Indiana will have you covered from every corner. I’ll be heading down to southern Indiana for the matchup between Class 2A #1 Brownstown Central and Class 3A #4 Scottsburg. However, you can follow along at @BRamseyKSR on Twitter for postgame updates from all of the top games around the state. Now, let’s dive into the five best games to watch this evening.
Brownstown Central @ Scottsburg
This highly anticipated southern Indiana matchup should bring out a ton of area fan support this evening. I will be making the trip down to cover this game live as well. Brownstown Central, the #1 ranked team in Class 2A in the Prep Hoops Indiana polls, enters with a 3-1 record and features Class of 2024 Purdue commit Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN . Benter is one of the top scorers in the state and will play alongside a couple of Scottsburg transfers in sophomores Colby Hall Colby Hall 6'6" | PF Brownstown Central | 2025 State IN and Chace Coomer Chace Coomer 6'5" | SG Brownstown Central | 2025 State IN adding another layer to this rivalry. Scottsburg, a perfect 4-0, rides a very talented junior class and is currently ranked #4 in Class 3A by Prep Hoops Indiana. 6’8″ forward Wyatt Zellers, 6’3″ guard Kody Clancy Kody Clancy 6'4" | PG Scottsburg | 2024 State IN , and 6’3″ wing Jack Miller Jack Miller 6'5" | SG Scottsburg | 2024 State IN makeup the primary trio for the Warriors.
Carmel @ Noblesville
In the Indianapolis area we have a Class 4A Top 10 battle between #4 Carmel and #7 Noblesville. They Greyhounds have won back-to-back overtime contests against Plainfield and Fishers to move to 4-0 on the season while the Millers are a perfect 2-0 after last Friday’s impressive win over Fishers. Belmont signee Sam Orme Sam Orme 6'9" | SF Carmel | 2023 State #196 Nation IN has had an excellent start to his senior season and should be well on his way to earning a spot on the Indiana All-Star team. As for Noblesville, they have a well-balanced attack led by seniors Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN , Preston Roberts Preston Roberts 6'5" | SF Noblesville | 2023 State IN , Cooper Bean Cooper Bean 6'4" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN , and junior Aaron Fine Aaron Fine 6'3" | PG Noblesville | 2024 State IN . This should be a fun heavyweight battle between two future Sectional 8 opponents.
Eastern Hancock @ Northeastern
For fans of smaller school basketball in east central Indiana this will absolutely be the game for you this evening. Eastern Hancock head coach Aaron Spaulding has won 283 games in 24 seasons with the Royals including a regional championship in 2022. They are now 2-1 and ranked #7 in Class 2A this week by Prep Hoops Indiana. Northeastern head coach Brent Ross is in year 14 with 224 victories. That’s 507 wins combined between these two program leaders that you can see tonight in Fountain City. The Royals feature Coach Spaulding’s twins Jacob Spaulding Jacob Spaulding 6'0" | SG Eastern Hancock | 2023 State IN and Silas Spaulding Silas Spaulding 6'0" | SG Eastern Hancock | 2023 IN who create a dynamic scoring backcourt. Meanwhile, Knights senior wing Grant Luebbe Grant Luebbe 6'4" | SF Northeastern | 2023 State IN is one of the area’s best defenders and will look to slow down the dangerous Eastern Hancock offense.
New Palestine @ Greenfield-Central
Another east central Indiana battle between Hancock County foes will tip-off this evening as 3-0 Greenfield-Central plays host to 3-0 New Palestine. The Cougars have a potent backcourt featuring Marian signee Dylan Moles Dylan Moles 6'3" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN , sophomore standout Braylon Mullins Braylon Mullins 6'6" | SG Greenfield-Central | 2025 State #123 Nation IN , and senior Tyler Kerkhof Tyler Kerkhof 6'1" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN . They will be matched up against another very skilled group on the Dragons side. Seniors Ian Stephens Ian Stephens 6'5" | PF New Palestine | 2023 State IN and Blaine Nunnally Blaine Nunnally 5'10" | PG New Palestine | 2023 State IN lead the way with 19.0 and 17.3 points per game respectively. Stephens also adds 8.3 rebounds while Nunnally dishes out 5.3 assists per game. A talented sophomore class adds some additional firepower as well. This matchup of county rivals also has Hoosier Heritage Conference and eventual Sectional 9 implications as well.
Southport @ Bloomington South
Class 4A #8 Southport takes their 2-1 record down to Bloomington South to face the 3-1 Panthers this evening. The Cardinals have all kinds of firepower with a deep senior class leading the way. Senior guard Anthony Dancler Anthony Dancler 6'2" | SG Southport | 2023 State IN has picked up where he left off pre-injury as Southport’s leader in the backcourt. Keyon Garrett-Miller Keyon Garrett-Miller 6'1" | PG Southport | 2023 State IN is another talented guard while Jayden Pinkston Jayden Pinkston 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN in a super athletic two-way wing and 6’6″ Nickens Lemba Nickens Lemba 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN holds things down around the basket. For Bloomington South, 6’8″ senior forward Gavin Wisley Gavin Wisley 6'8" | PF Bloomington South | 2023 State IN is the primary name to know. He is an excellent shooter at his size and creates a real matchup problem with his pick-and-pop abilities. Junior transfer guard Zach Sims Zach Sims 6'3" | SF Bloomington South | 2024 State IN is one to watch as well in the backcourt for the Panthers.
