Continue ReadingJayden’s numbers so far this season have dipped but these rankings are based on college potential and the 6’5 wing is still on top of this list by a decent margin in that department. Johnson has a chance to be a top 50-100 prospect in America with his size and skill set. Worst case scenario, he should be a big time shooter at the college level.
Long term, Watkins has just as much potential (if not more than) Jayden Johnson Jayden Johnson 6’5″ | SG Trinity | 2026 State KY thanks to his size and athleticism. For now, DeAaron is worth monitoring for power 5 schools and could add to his list of college offers in the near future. In the short term, the 6’8 forward is averaging 11 and 7 for a Madisonville team that is a work in progress but still off to a 6-1 start.
It’s so early to label any of these freshman but right now Turner is trending dangerously close to being called a “tweener” as he is playing like a 6’6 center right now. James has a couple of years to improve his skill level and/or grow as his ultimate best position is as a big wing or a stretch 4. He reminds me of a young JJ Traynor.
Gabe is another player whose position will ultimately be on the perimeter but is primarily playing as a “big” right now. Weis has shown he is comfortable putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim when opportunity arises. Putting up 9 and 7 as a freshman for a 6-2 Washington County team that is favored to win the 5th region, Gabe has a ton of long term potential.
Highlights
Kinney is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. He does a good job of attacking defenses off the dribble. He’s got a lot of work to do in the weight room but Taylen has time to add bulk and get more comfortable finishing through contact. He’s only getting to the line two times per game but his scoring average will go up as he starts getting to the line more.
