SubscribeWith the season getting started in less than 2 weeks, I decided to take a look at just a few underclassman who could have big, breakout seasons for their teams. There are plenty of underclassman who could’ve been included in this list. These players are from the 2024 and 2025 classes.
Tre’ is a scrappy guard who has very good handles. He gets to the rim well and protects the ball while attacking extremely well. He adjusts mid-air well around traffic to finish the lay-up. He can hit the three off the catch consistently. He’s been improving over the summer by tightening his handles and improving his shot. He has showed himself to be a 3 level scorer and is set for a breakout year.
Lonnie played a big role on a RA Long team that went to the state tournament and he was only a sophomore. Now with a summer of growing his body and his game, he’s ready for a breakout junior year. With the team looking for a new first option, Brown JR might just be that choice. He shoots the three very. very well. His catch and release is so quick that most defenders don’t have the time to get a hand in his face. It will be interesting to see how much his game has expanded since last season.
Lucas has a great first step. He’s able to blow by his defender and get to the bucket. He finishes through traffic very well, using his body exactly how he should. I saw quite a bit of improvement from him over the summer. He’s grown a little bit and grew into his body well. He hits the three just as good as anyone within the 2025 class and has a ton of potential. He should have a solid sophomore campaign.
I think Vince will see a jump in minutes within the rotation and will prove his value to the team. Last year as a freshman he averaged 9 points a gamer with about 4 assists to go with it. He finds his teammates effectively off the drive and can also get to the hoop to finish. The thing that makes Vince stand out is his deep shot. His release is insanely quick and he hits the three extremely effectively. He’s going to take a big step as a sophomore.
