The backcourt positions are some of the strongpoints in the Garden State this year and today we take a look at a handful of guards who are college prospects but flying under the radar.

Teter is a talented guard who can beat defenders inside with post moves or on the wings with his jumper—He's comfortable around the perimeter but can also get under the basket and fight for rebounds and pick up the second chance points. He had solid games vs Mon Don and SJV last winter, going for nearly 20 in both. He has a high GPA and has a high basketball IQ, which should have academic D3s very interested.

[player_tooltip player_id='1401560' first='Damir' last='Stone'] | 5'10” | G | Saint Mary Rutherford

A two sport athlete who is also the QB for the Gaels football team. He's capable on offense but his best contribution is on the defensive end of the court—He uses that football toughness to create turnovers and clean the glass-- leading the team in rebounds and steals last year. Football is likely his future, but he could be a valuable “lock down defender” for a D3 college somewhere in the Northeast or Rust Belt if he chose to play college basketball.

David Forzani | 5'9” | G | Elmwood Park

Esam Assaf's backcourt partner. A solid facilitator who drives at the rim off the dribble to get his points. He exploded for 31 vs Lodi and 28 vs Westwood as his top games last winter. He should be of interest to D3 programs. He and Assaf returning for their senior year gives Elmwood Park one of the top small school backcourts in North Jersey.

[player_tooltip player_id='933715' first='Nasir' last='Wheeler'] | 5'9” | G | Newark East Side

Wheeler is a high energy player and a tough on ball defender who does a little bit of everything offensively when called upon by his coaches for the Ironbound school. He's got the range to hit shots from beyond the three point line and also is a key part of East Side's defensive efforts, playing primarily on top of the press. His best game as a junior was 14 vs University. Four year varsity player. D3s should be checking in this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1025355' first='Keith' last='Adame'] | G | Jackson Memorial 2023

Adame, joining teammates [player_tooltip player_id='933644' first='Samir' last='Padilla'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1013066' first='Respect' last='Tyleek'] , is another hard-nosed guard for Jackson's senior filled backcourt this coming season. He's a good ballhandler who can attack the basket off the dribble by breaking down defenders and isn't afraid of contact getting to the rim. He's got the ability to score at multiple levels and is a tough on ball defender. He had 18 vs Southern and 17 vs Toms River South as top games as a junior. D3s should be watching.
