Lincoln will be an interesting team to follow this season. They have quite a new look with three impact players coming in from other schools. This is a team built for the future but they are capable of making some noise this season. Here’s a closer look at the players to watch. They open up their season tonight at Beklarmine Prep.
I am excited to see this kid play this season. He is a killer on the court and as good a competitor as I’ve seen. He is relentless and it shows. I admire players who compete. He does. He is explosive and when he wants to get to the bucket, he is tough to stop. He has improved his decision making, and turned himself into a player who can run the point and control the pace of the game if he needs to. He will play all guard spots and is a scorer first. He moves laterally on defense at an elite level and takes pride in playing defense. He will rebound and find his teammates with some great dimes after blowing by the defense. He sets up his mid-range game well. He can knock down shots. He does a little of everything. He has the talent to be a difference maker this season.
Highlights
He returns as the steadying force for this team and is a multi-year starter who can play either guard spot. He will be counted on to score and take care of the ball. He has a good mid-range game and can get to the basket with his quickness and strength. It never hurts to have a division 1 quarterback on your team. He should have a big season as a senior this year on a team with a lot of talented young players.
He is a big, strong kid who should be a solid presence in the paint for Lincoln. He has been working hard to make himself into a true post player and has has had a solid off-season. Lincoln will need him to be a monster on the boards as they aren’t very big aside from him. He has shown that ability and he can score when he gets the ball deep on the block. He is also a decent athlete who can get up and down the floor well and finish on the break.
A freshman point guard with all the tools to turn himself into a great player. He plays with no fear and will get a lot of minutes as likely the first guard off the bench. He has good handles and reads the defense well, which results in him being able to create for himself and his teammates. He has a high ceiling for the next four years and is a player to watch.
Kareem Joy
Kareem Joy
A quick guard who played some varsity last year but suffered an achillea injury. He will start this season most likely. He is a good defensive player, utilizing his quickness. He is best when going to the basket using that quickness as well. He will also be counted on to help handle the ball on a team that will feature four guards a lot of the time.
Omarion Boston
Omarion Boston
Transfer from Washington HS, he will be a starter for Lincoln this season. He is a strong player who can do a lot of things. He gets to the basket well, rebounds and defends. Strong mid-range jumper. He can play multiple positions with his strength and physicality. He will help out with rebounding on a smaller team and that is something Lincoln will need from him
