While there was some great matchups during the year, repeating this great feat is going to be much more difficult since graduation is affecting many of the top teams a season ago. See who I anticipate being the top performers in 2023.
(Big School)
- 1. North Adams– The Green Devils are not losing many pieces and most notably return the top player and scorer in the conference in Bransyn Copas Bransyn Copas 6'0" | PG North Adams | 2024 State OH (Jr). With some young pieces around him, North Adams should be able to claim the big school division this year with some high scoring numbers in the process.
- 2. Eastern Brown– Wasn’t as dominant as originally expected last year, but is losing a lot of that talent. One of the better coached programs though in Southeast Ohio and should have some guys that can keep them with North Adams.
- 3. Lynchburg-Clay– Mustangs were near the bottom last year, but they return their top 2 from a team that had some brighter moments. Brady Chisman (Sr) and Ian Waits (Sr) will be the primary guys to watch for this group.
- Ripley– District Runner-Ups a year ago, but now without their top 2 guys and a load of seniors from that team.
- 5. West Union– Dragons failed to win a game last season and just don’t have the production returning to move the needle within the division.
(Small School)
- 1. Fairfield– The Lions were one of the best teams in the small school division a year ago and found themselves in the District Finals last year. While they put up a battle in their loss, they also lose 2 of the top 3 from that team including arguably their best player in Reese Teeters. Tytis Cannon (Sr) has been one of the best players the past 2 years and will have one more year to again lead the Lions in the divisional battle.
- 2. Whiteoak– There was high expecations for the Tigers last year with a great group of guards returning. While some of that talent is now gone, they return Landon Barnett (Sr) for one more season and another chance to contest in Division IV.
- 3. Peebles– The Indians had some good moments a year ago even though they were about in the middle of the SHAC. While they lose their top guy from that team, the return of Zane Porter (Sr) should help, especially with the Indians moving to Division III this upcoming season. Always a competitive team.
- 4. Fayetteville-Perry– Rockets were in the District Finals a season ago, but graduate a large amount of seniors, including one of the top players in recent history (Jayden Bradshaw). Will be a bit of a rebuild year to contest again.
- 5. Manchester– Lose the best player they’ve hard in recent history from a 2 win team. Going to be a challenge yet again.
