While we weren’t able to see all of the teams over the weekend, we got our eyes on most of them, and here are the guards who turned in standout performances.
Aaron Glass, 2025, Rancho Cucamonga
Glass had his three-point shot dialed in all weekend long. The 6-foot-2 combo guard has as smooth of shooting mechanics as you’ll find on the west coast and his combination of that, a quick release and deep range from multiple areas of the floor makes him one of the more lethal shooters in the state. In his final game of the weekend, the sophomore poured in eight three-pointers for Rancho Cucamonga and made it look easy.
Aaron Powell Aaron Powell 6'0" | CG Campbell Hall | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Campbell Hall
Powell remains one of the more under-appreciated and under-recruited junior guards in the state. The 6-foot-1 point guard has a great combination of speed, strength and balance when attacking the basket off the dribble, and, the pop in his legs continues to improve, making him a guy who can rise up and finish over rim protectors. One thing I really liked seeing out of Powell in this event was his smooth and balanced pull-up jumper at the mid-range level.
Aidan Fowler Aidan Fowler 5'10" | PG JSerra | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, JSerra
Fowler’s value is as a confident shot-making and playmaking floor general. The 5-foot-10 junior is a high motor tempo pusher who is always in attack mode and provides a grittiness and toughness on both ends of the floor that gives the Lions some edge. Fowler uses his quickness and strength to get by defenders on the perimeter and has a quick stop-and-pop pull-up jumper that he knocks down at a high rate, but he doesn’t force bad shots and has the court vision to find open shooters when defenses collapse.
Aliaun Iscandari Aliaun Iscandari 6'1" | PG Campbell Hall | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Campbell Hall
Iscandari is a dynamic playmaking guard who is best when pushing the break and slashing his way to the basket in the open court. The 6-foot-2 guard has great speed in transition and the ability to change direction without losing momentum which helps him blow by defenders and get into the lane were he can rise up and finish over rim protectors. The left-handed junior hit a couple of catch-and-shoot three-pointers off of a drive and kick from a teammate, which I believe is the next big step in his development.
Angelo Kambala Angelo Kambala 5'10" | CG Liberty | 2023 State NV , 2023, Liberty (NV)
When he’s got it going, Kambala is one of the best shooters on the west coast and he had his deep ball flowing pretty well this weekend. The 6-foot senior, who is committed to Utah Tech, has great instincts when moving without the ball. His ability to set up and come off of screens and get his feet set and shoulders square to the basket prior to the ball arriving makes it difficult for defenses to close out and run him off the line. The Nevada-based shooting guard has a ton of self-confidence and his next shot mentality makes him a dangerous perimeter shooter.
Brady Karich Brady Karich 6'1" | PG Mater Dei | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Mater Dei
The first word that comes to mind when watching Karich play is “steady.” The 6-foot-1 junior doesn’t do anything flashy or spectacular, but he runs the Mater Dei offense with a crisp attention to detail. From his advance passing to his cutting off the ball to setting screens to free a teammate for an open shot, Karich efficiently executes the Monarchs offense while limiting live-ball turnovers.
