Pre-Season Rankings 5A

5A is stronger than it has been in a few years. In the past it was usually one or two teams that can hang with 6A teams but now 1-10 might be able to hang with any of those schools to be honest with you. With the exception of a few power house programs. Here is the first 5 in the Top 10. Some of the teams in the bottom 5 could easily take over the top 5.

#1 Alta, Hawks

Alta was going to be good regardless but then they add one of the best backcourt players in the state in Ace Reiser Ace Reiser 6'0" | PG Alta | 2024 State UT . Now this team is dangerous. Would love to see them go out of state like the other big time programs going to The Damien Classic, Tarkanian and other places to get their kids exposure. Jaxon Johnson Jaxon Johnson 6'8" | SF Alta | 2024 State #256 Nation UT has not only been playing well in the eyes of everyone here in the state but he has played well enough to garner attention nationally as he is starting to jump in the rankings. With an offer from Stanford and multiple local schools on his trail this kid can play. He can defend multiple positions and he has even been known to stifle big time scorers with his length and foot work. Nash Hinck Nash Hinck 5'11" | PG Alta | 2023 State UT is a quality player in the backcourt as he has speed and scoring ability. Carter Goodfellow Carter Goodfellow 6'2" | SG Alta | 2024 State UT is a solid guard and this is just scratching the surface of this tea.They have multiple options to go to when the shot clock is winding down. They will have a bullseye on their back to start the year.

#2 Murray, Spartans

Murray looks to really pick up where they left off last year but change the final outcome. They will be lead by D1 recruit Chudi Anosike Chudi Anosike 6'5" | CG Murray | 2023 State UT . Chudi is a big time player that can score with the best of them in the country. He has size and three-level scoring. If his long ball is falling everyone is in trouble because he can go off for 30 a game. He will have some players to help him out in the scoring department like Jaxson Workman Jaxson Workman 6'0" | SG Murray | 2023 State UT who can flat out shoot the ball. Look for Murray to score a lot of points this season.

#3 Woods Cross, Wildcats

WX is one of the those teams that can get you in various ways. They have a lot of players that can score and if they get stops they will be even tougher. Mason Bendinger Mason Bendinger 6'3" | CG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT is going to be in the conversation for top scorer as he can score from all over the floor. He is looking lean and strong. Jaxon Smith Jaxon Smith 6'1" | PG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT is another player that can score in a hurry. Last years state final run was called a Cinderella run but honestly this team is just good. Alex Brey Alex Brey 6'5" | SF Woods Cross | 2023 State UT will be a big factor as will Hunter Jackson Hunter Jackson 6'3" | PG Woods Cross | 2025 State UT .

#4 Cedar Valley, Aviators

Cedar Valley is no longer a sleeper they are for real. Heath Christiansen Heath Christiansen 6'2" | CG Cedar Valley | 2024 State UT , Jax Allen Jax Allen 6'4" | SG Orem | 2025 State UT , Owen Bowden and many more players on that deep roster can score the ball. The amount of growth out in their area is bringing more talent to choose from over there. They can beat 6A schools with their pace and defensive ability. They have a mixture of young talent and returners. Stay tuned as they should have a balanced attack.

#5 Lehi, Pioneers

This team is going to be loaded with shooters. They will be lead by Copper Lewis who can flat out make it rain from all over the floor. They have some more pieces but it seems as though everyone that is going to be on the floor for this team will be able to make it rain.
