Throughout their high school playing careers coaches have kept a firm eye on these players and for good reason. The 2022-23 season will be the last opportunity for these guys to showcase their talents in a high school setting before moving on to the big leagues.
The 6 foot 5 combo guard out of Fairfax High School thrives at knocking down tough jump shots in the half-court. Choijilsuren can get these tough shots off by utilizing his size to rise over defenders making his scoring attempts difficult to disrupt. He has great footwork and excellent touch in the mid-post area to compliment his back-to-the-basket game. At the height of 6’5″, Choijilsuren gets downhill with a head of steam just like any skilled 6’0″ guard would, he has a great burst off the catch and he is advanced at identifying and attacking driving lanes. He does a ton of damage from beyond the arc. Choijilsuren is much more than just a catch-and-shoot guy from three-point range. He can knock down 3s on the move as well as off the dribble. He is great at getting himself open when the ball isn’t in his hands.
The 6 foot 5 wing does nothing but make winning plays and elevates the level player for the guys around him. Jones is a prospect that fits the modern basketball play style to perfection. He has great positional size to go along with his advanced playmaking tools at the wing position. Jones is very good at operating as the ball handler in PNR actions, he sees the game at a different pace and from a different angle than those around him. He comes off of screens with great intensity, his head up scanning the floor, and the ability to hit the roll man with a precise pass while the defense is still recovering. Jones attacks the paint with creativity to create shots around the rim for himself as well as others. When he enters the paint he draws a ton of gravity toward himself and can capitalize on the defense over helping by delivering swift dump-off passes. Jones uses long strides and quick steps to get to the rim. He has extremely long arms that he uses to stretch over the hands of the defense to finish. Jones is a 2-way 3-level scorer and one of the best to do it in Virginia. This young man has a bright future ahead of him.

he 6’0″ point guard out of Patriot high school plays with a speed and intensity that opposing defenders really struggle to keep up with. We touched on Coleman’s game in the Virginia’s Cedar Run District Film Room article but there is so much more to cover! Coleman is great at taking advantage of what the defense is allowing. Sagging off is an invitation for him to take and make a pull-up jumper which he can do at a very high rate. Coleman is a high-IQ player who can pick his spots on the floor and get to them with his speed and crafty handle. His playmaking skills are elite. At 6’0″ he can snatch a rebound off the rim and instantly launch the outlet pass for any easy fast break. In the half court, he is able to collapse the defense and create open looks for teammates.

Kearse is a 6 foot 4 wing playing for Hargrave Academy. Kearse has insanely long arms to compliment his elite jumping abilities which allow him to be an above-the-rim player on both sides of the court. Kearse has great athleticism but his jump shot stands out to me. Great form and mechanics, no swaying or fading of the body, and a nice touch. He can hit that shot off the dribble and is very consistent at knocking down catch-and-shoot jumpers. Kearse is great at moving off-ball and getting open. He is good at occupying the soft spots in the defense which results in wide-open dives to the basket that are finished at the rim as well as easy backdoor cuts.
McIntyre is a 6-foot pure-scoring machine! The talented guard out of Washington-Liberty High School can truly get his buckets in a variety of ways. McIntyre can great his own shot at an elite level. When you don’t have the elite size you have to get crafty and your craft will be your best friend on the court. McIntyre did exactly that, he made his craftiness into a weapon. when on the perimeter, McIntyre operates with quick, calculated dribbles to free up 3-point shots but at the end of the day, he is just a tough shot-maker. His shot creation is a threat on all 3-levels of scoring. He can get the same shots in the mid-range area that he creates on the perimeter and is extremely advanced when it comes to feel and creativity around the basket.
King is a 6 foot 3 paint bully despite what his height might indicate. He punishes opposing bigs with ease and is a match-up issue for competitors. King’s back to the basket game is elite for his size. He has great footwork and an array of moves that he puts on defenders to get his shots. He plays with an extremely high motor and energy that is contagious throughout his teams. King is very active on the boards with the ability to grab-and-go to initiate transition opportunities. He is a fearless player with a unique game. The tool that King brings to the floor will be able to take him far.
