There are some players that are unsigned and available that have a lot to offer a program at the next level. Let’s look at some players from Michigan that college coaches should be sure to watch very soon.
Jones is going to make a college coach very happy someday. I have said in the past, that his defense was so impactful that I’d offer him even if he averaged 0 points a game. The young man can get up in the face of his assignment and never give them the space they need or want. Jones can pressure a ball handler, either forcing the ball out of the hands of a primary ball handler or scorer or creating turnovers. He has great defensive anticipation and footwork and you can see that his teammates like and respect the grind that he puts in on that side of the floor. Even better though is that Jones is a 2 way player. He can definitely get it done on offense as well. Jones is a speedy guard that can play in transition. He can also slash to the rim and attack the basket. He’s willing to play whatever role his team needs if it means picking up a W. I really think that there’s a ton of upside to this young man’s game. College coaches, if you want an athletic perimeter defender that can attack on the offensive end as well, Jones is definitely worth a look.

I expect to see a lot of action, and sooner rather than later, when it comes to the recruiting front with Zachary Kroetsch Zachary Kroetsch 6’2″ | PG Croswell-Lexington | 2023 State MI . There are a lot of teams right here in the state of Michigan that could benefit long term by having in their program. Let’s start by addressing the obvious skill that he has. Kroetsch is a shooter through and through. He looked really good starting ball movement on the perimeter and being ready to pull up and shoot off the catch when the ball was reversed and came back his way. Did I mention that he shot extremely well in big moments? Kroetsch looked confident and ready to deliver in the clutch. I know, he’s a point guard so teams will look for him to guide the offense. Well, if you want a crisp passer that can put the ball directly in a teammates shooting pocket, Kroetsch can deliver that as well. All spring and summer his passes were on target and crisp, making it very tough for defenders to read them and get in the passing lanes.
McDonald really should see his recruitment pick up and gain steam ASAP. He has a lot to offer a college program, and truth be told, I firmly believe that he’s being very under recruited. I love the way he can work from the perimeter, the baseline. McDonald could be a huge asset from the mid range at the next level, a young man that can deliver high percentage looks and capitalize on them. McDonald has a feel for the action and spacing comes natural to him. He does a great job of finding lanes or creases and giving his ball handlers a passing option when they attack the rim off the bounce. McDonald is incredibly underrated when it comes to his passing. They aren’t passes or assists that you’ll see on SportsCenter, but trust me, they’re equally as effective. He can kick out fron the paint as well as hit a moving guard on target down the floor off a rebound. In my opinion, this young man should receive interest and offers within the next month. I think that his game will carry over nicely to the next level and he will make a coach very happy.

Amoako is a fast rising post prospect in Michigan. He works really well off the right block with his back to the basket. From there, Amoako can catch a post feed with strong hands and go to work on his defender. While he looks really comfortable spinning outside and finishing over his left shoulder, he can also spin toward the paint and finish over his right. Amoako can finish above the rim with strength, but can also show touch from a few feet out. He attacks the glass as a true post player and he can clean up off the rim. Amoako is a huge plus on the defensive end. His length can really cause problems for his opponents. He can protect the rim and can force offenses to gameplan around him. Amoako does a nice job staying vertical and challenging ball handlers that are attacking the rim. He’s receiving interest, so a program would be well advised to get in quickly with this high upside post player. Teams are constantly looking for that rising post prospect and they are in fact hard to find. Well, Amoako is one of those gems that teams shouldn’t let slip away.
