The event, hosted by Prep Hoops Circuit Premiere program, Chosen Few, will take place at the Las Vegas Basketball Center located at 7350 Prairie Falcon Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89128. The tournament format featured teams ranging from 8U to 17U. It also featured several really good juniors. Here’s a look at some of our top 2024’s from the event.
Jamison McCall Jamison McCall 6'0" | CG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 5’10 CG Chosen Few 2024 – I was impressed with the physical improvement of McCall. He was toned up and has put on definition in his arms, shoulders, and back. The physical growth translated into speed and power on the court. He was a bit optimistic missing what would have been the dunk of the century, an in-traffic, lean-in attempt, however his willingness to try, showed good explosion and a dawg mentality.
Jordan Roberts Jordan Roberts 6'0" | PG Dixie | 2024 State UT 5’10 PG Dixie 2024 – Roberts is a pure PG that loves to take big shots for his team. Time and time again, the cold-blooded assassin would knock down a run killing three to sap the momentum away from opponents. He has a great feel for the game, instinctually knowing exactly when he should shoot or pass, and where his teammates need the ball, to be effective. He was the main ballhandler all weekend for the 17U champs.
Amanee Ned Amanee Ned 5'7" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 5’8 PG Chosen Few (featured image) – More I see of Ned the more impressed I become. He can best be described as a tempo-changing bucket-getter. The PG affects the game on both sides of the floor and is going to be a difference maker for Spring Valley this season.
Khamari Taylor Khamari Taylor 5'11" | CG Desert Oasis | 2024 State NV 5’11 CG Rod Wave Elite – Taylor showed more scoring ability than I have seen in the past. He was effective on his drives, but also showed a nice mid-range pull-up. A two-way combo guard, he is headed to Desert Oasis this season.
Maximus Romero Maximus Romero 5'11" | PG Arbor View | 2024 State NV 5’10 CG TF Elite – Romero is creeping up on my top shooters in the state list. He’s a deadly corner three-point sniper, with a sweet stroke. He showed a decent handle, however, his best skill was his ability to change the scoreboard with his jump shot.
Elijah Engfer Elijah Engfer 6'1" | SG Pinecrest Cadence | 2024 State NV 6’2 SF HBA 2024 – Engfer was one of the most memorable players from the event for me. He was featured in my first impressions article and played well throughout the weekend. His athleticism stood out, but it was also his ability to use his R&J ability to go by and leap over defenders. Intriguing prospect that plays for Pinecrest.
Kyle Lemke Kyle Lemke 6'9" | C Dixie | 2024 State UT 6’8 PF Dixie 2024 (#8PHU 2024) – Lemke was one of my top Bigs at the event. If you’re looking for a fundamentally sound, high-effort big man, then the Southern Utah post is your guy. Lemke was dominant, showing good post skill and interior defensive ability en route to helping Dixie take home the crown.
R’zha Whittle R’zha Whittle 6'8" | C Rancho | 2024 State NV 6’8 C Hardwork Dedication 2024 (featured image) (#22PHN 2024) – I thought the big fella helped himself a lot this week. Whittle was a force down low, creating space wherever he moves. I think patience was his best skill as he delibertely scored with his back to the basket. Also one of my top Bigs at the camp, he’s making a case for one of the top Bigs in 4A.
