The event, hosted by Prep Hoops Circuit Premiere program, Chosen Few, will take place at the Las Vegas Basketball Center located at 7350 Prairie Falcon Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89128. The tournament format will feature teams ranging from 8U to 17U. With the updated Nevada Rankings right around the corner, it will also feature several players that I need to lay eyes on. In this article, we take a look at my players to watch at the tournament.
Jailen Childress Jailen Childress 5'11" | PG Rancho | 2025 State NV 6’0 CG Hard Work Dedication 2025 – I’ve gotten a preview of Childress’s talent, this weekend I hope to get a full view. He has positional size, along with a smooth skill set. Have him listed currently as a combo, but I will be evaluating his PG skills hard this weekend.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’1 PG Chosen Few 2024 – It’s going to be a treat to have the state’s scoring leader participating in this one. Adem is a lethal scorer whose range begins the moment he walks into the gym. He’ll be suiting up for the host team, which features several of his current Spring Valley teammates. They open up with a game against North Las Vegas Venom, featuring several Mojave stars, making this a defacto rematch of last season’s 4A title.
Devin Mabry Devin Mabry 6'6" | PF Spring Valley | 2023 State NV 6’6 PF Chosen Few 2023 – Excited to see Mabry play this weekend. I’m looking mainly to see how his offensive game has improved over the last month. He’s a guy that gets the majority of his buckets off
Nick Morrison 6’2 SG LV Aces 2026 – I like evaluating incoming freshmen, and I got a tip that Morrison just might be one to keep an eye on. According to his coach, he’s a “shooter that defends” Should be fun checking out the 3 and D prospect for the first time.
Mason Abittan Mason Abittan 6'6" | SF Red Rock Academy | 2025 State NV 6’5 SG Prominent Elite 2025 – Abittan is coming off a strong Summer where he proved he is one of the state’s top young snipers. He is part of a loaded 2025 class, especially when you look at 3-10. Always like to see if talented guys who have competed against high-level competition are able to show dominance, against less experienced opponents.
Zakeus Mcdowell Zakeus Mcdowell 6'6" | SF Mojave | 2023 State NV 6’6 SF North Las Vegas Venom 2023 (featured image) – Saw McDowell recently at the Balldawgs Underdawg Camp and he looked like he was taking his game to new heights figuratively and literally. He looked like he’s grown a couple of inches since the end of the summer while improving his overall athleticism. His R&J ability should be on full display this weekend in the Venom’s up-tempo, pressure defense.
CJ Shaw CJ Shaw 6'3" | SG Mojave | 2025 State #212 Nation NV 6’3 SG North Las Vegas Venom 2025 – Any chance I get to watch CJ Shaw CJ Shaw 6'3" | SG Mojave | 2025 State #212 Nation NV play, I’m taking it. The sophomore wing piggybacked an amazing freshman campaign, into a huge summer, playing for Vegas Elite. The smooth scorer is a gamer, so don’t be surprised if he takes his game to another level if and when the contest gets tight.
Kyle Lemke Kyle Lemke 6'9" | C Dixie | 2024 State UT 6’7 PF Dixie 2024 – One of the most fundamentally sound Bigs on the West Coast brings his game to sin city. Lemke is a rim runner supreme, that has several back-to-the-basket moves. This will be a terrific opportunity for me to evaluate what level he grades out at as a potential prospect.
John Southwick John Southwick 6'3" | SG Utah Prep | 2025 State #234 Nation UT 6’2 SG Dixie 2025 – This will be the first opportunity I’ve had to watch Southwick versus Varsity competition. I saw a lot of the sharpshooter as a younger player, and am excited to see how he fares against live bullets. A strapping shooting guard that can use an in-between game, I’m looking to see what role he plays in the usually disciplined Dixie system.
