Comp Edge Fall League Preview: Part II

The 2022 Competitive Edge High School Fall League tips off on Saturday, September 10th. After a month off from 5on5 hoops, the intense varsity action out in King of Prussia will be a welcome event for prospects and hoops heads in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Below is Part II in our preview of the teams and prospects who will be participating in the 2022 Competitive Edge High School Fall League.

Delaware County Christian: This fall/winter the Knights will rely heavily on a young core led by versatile point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1271436' first='Khamai' last='Orange']. He is a 2025 prospect who broke out during the 2021-22 season because of his ability to score in transition or the half-court. Then with his outstanding play during the 2022 spring/summer grassroots circuit, Orange saw his recruiting stock soar. Hybrid forward Josiah “Gio” Gaines is a tremendous athlete who is a plus player at both ends of the court. Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='1466616' first='Beau' last='Lyren'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1466596' first='Caleb' last='Jameson'] will stretch the floor with their high percentage perimeter shooting.

Methacton: Superstar guard Brett Byrne and all-everything big fella Cole Hargrove (Drexel) have graduated. That duo was the main reason for the Warriors incredible success over the last two years. Now three level scoring wing [player_tooltip player_id='1577641' first='Matt' last='Christian'] (pic above), combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1200783' first='Cam' last='Chilson'] and 3-point sniper Jason Lagana will step into the spotlight. Chilson is a speedy, extremely athletic, two-way prospect who posted a season high 21 points vs. Phoenixville last year. During June's Philly HS Live II event Christian's play was extremely impressive and included a 33-point performance. Lagana's pure shooting is his calling card, but he is an underrated distributor.

Phoenixville: The Phantoms graduated twelve seniors including standouts Gabe Massenburg and Zavier Mayo. So, there are some major holes to fill in Phoenixville. Juniors Max Lebisky (3 ppg. in 2021-22) and Aidan McClintock should step into the starting lineup. Standout 2025 prospect Deacon Baratta (6'3”) will be expected to have a major scoring role this fall/winter. Baratta is a 3-point ace who turned heads this summer while playing for East Coast Power

Pope John Paul II: The standout trio of JP Baron, Jaden Workman and Kevin Green received their diplomas back in June, so a youth movement is in effect at PJP for 2022-23. Class of 2025 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1460782' first='Bradey' last='Bass'] will be counted on heavily this fall/winter. We profiled this talented prospect this summer because of his standout play on the 2022 grassroots circuit. Junior Dom Demito is a rock steady point guard who will keep the youngsters organized. Demito's 2024 classmate [player_tooltip player_id='2383351' first='Caleb' last='Zavertnik'] (6'5”) is a solid rim protector and a force on the glass.

Radnor: The defending Comp Edge Fall League champions enter this fall/winter with tremendous expectations. But Radnor returns four starters from their highly acclaimed 2023 group, so they should be up to the challenge. Shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1119137' first='Jackson' last='Hicke'] posted an off the charts summer circuit and recently committed to Princeton. [player_tooltip player_id='1212678' first='Charlie' last='Thornton']'s outside shooting and dribble drive game has taken a significant step forward. Back in July, floor general [player_tooltip player_id='1200819' first='Danny' last='Rosenblum'] was selected to represent Team USA at the Macabi Games. Super athletic combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1200791' first='Cooper' last='Mueller'] committed to Princeton as well – for lacrosse. Those returning starters will get a boost from the addition of 2023 shooting guard Jackson Gaffney (37% on threes in 2021-22). Gaffney transferred in from Saint Joe's Prep. Junior combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1287326' first='Michael' last='Savadove'] will see major minutes as well. We like Radnor's chances of repeating as Comp Edge League champions.
