October 1st is right around the corner and that means the high school basketball season is almost here! While October will bring plenty of preseason preview content throughout the site, September is about the individuals after the summer has wrapped up. Earlier this month, we started our ranking updates with the 2025 class. This week, we’re putting a spotlight on the 2024 rankings with the Top 60 juniors in the state. In case you missed it, you can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. In this post, it’s all about the best of the best with the top five prospects in the class. While Bartlesville guard David Castillo David Castillo 6'1" | PG Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) | 2024 #80 Nation KS has a firm grip on the top spot, we’ve seen plenty of movement throughout the rest of the top five.
1) David Castillo David Castillo 6'1" | PG Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) | 2024 #80 Nation KS – Guard – Bartlesville
As mentioned above, Bartlesville’s David Castillo David Castillo 6'1" | PG Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) | 2024 #80 Nation KS has had this top spot in the class locked up since his freshman year and there’s a solid chance that he goes wire to wire as the top prospect in the state’s 2024 class. A big reason behind that is his rise to become a true elite national recruit. We’ve seen the difference over the last decade in elite prospects on the state, regional and then national level. Castillo has firmly established himself as that national prospect. One of the biggest questions moving forward is whether or not Castillo will reach that All American status as we’ve seen from other recent Oklahoma prospects like Bryce Thompson and Trae Young. One of the things we’re looking forward to seeing from him this upcoming season is how he elevates his team. The east side in Class 6A will be incredibly wide open this winter and that could mean Castillo and the Bruins make it back to state.
2) TO Barrett TO Barrett 6'4" | SG Link Academy | 2024 #138 Nation MO – Guard – Edmond North
Jumping up into the top five and getting all the way to the number two spot is the first of two Edmond North Huskies in this breakdown. Guard TO Barrett TO Barrett 6'4" | SG Link Academy | 2024 #138 Nation MO has quickly emerged as the next top guard, outside of Castillo, in the state’s 2023 class. I’ll give the nod to fellow writer Sam Duren for being spot on with Barrett early on during the last high school season. He mentioned Barrett as being a strong candidate to make this kind of jump and all the Edmond North star has done is back that up over the last nine months. First off, he helped lead the Huskies to a state championship. Then he continued his growth as a lead guard throughout the offseason and performed well against great competition on the national stage. As we’ve said quite a bit over the last six months, Edmond North is absolutely loaded and Barrett is the best of the bunch. They’re going to be a fun team to watch over the next 18 months.
3) Dayton Forsythe Dayton Forsythe 6'3" | PG Dale | 2024 State #206 Nation OK – Guard – Dale
Dale guard Dayton Forsythe Dayton Forsythe 6'3" | PG Dale | 2024 State #206 Nation OK jumps up a few spots to number three in the recent ranking update and has everything to do with his production on the EYBL circuit this offseason. He led the Pirates to a state championship in March but the competition he saw on the way to the 2A gold ball is a little different than what he’s seen for the last six months. And Forsythe had an excellent summer and continued to get better and better every time he stepped on the floor. At the high school level and specifically in Class 2A, Forsythe is going to be one of the best players and top scorers in the state over the next two seasons. But it’s what he’s proven and done in the offseason that firmly establishes himself as a true top prospect within the state’s class. Schools are starting to take notice and it will be interesting to see which way the recruiting trail leads Forsythe over the next 12 months.
4) Dylan Warlick Dylan Warlick 6'6" | SF Edmond North | 2024 State #226 Nation OK – Forward – Edmond North
The second Edmond North standout within the top five is the only forward in the top five as well. Dylan Warlick Dylan Warlick 6'6" | SF Edmond North | 2024 State #226 Nation OK was one of the top overall players in the state during his sophomore season. From start to finish, you knew exactly what you were going to get from Warlick, who was extremely polished and simply did not look like a sophomore in high school. He helped lead the Huskies to the state championship and will be looking for two more rings alongside Barrett at the guard position. Warlick took the momentum from his sophomore season in high school onto the EYBL Circuit. Warlick picked up right where he left off from the high school season as he was a double double machine and he continued to improve the other areas of his game. The 2024 class is obviously very guard-heavy, especially at the top. But Warlick has firmly established himself as a top five prospect within the class.
5) Chiante Tramble Chiante Tramble 6'2" | PG Edmond North | 2024 State OK – Guard – Putnam City West
Rounding out the top five is Chiante Tramble Chiante Tramble 6'2" | PG Edmond North | 2024 State OK , who was one of the top guards in Class 6A last season as he helped lead Moore all the way to the state championship game. Tramble has moved over to Putnam City West and looks to lead the Patriots back to the state tournament and make another possible run at the gold ball. Tramble has impressed our writers with his extremely high basketball IQ to go along with a stellar skillset. He can do a lot of things incredibly well on the offensive side of the floor and he’s a big-bodied guard who is a problem for defenders on the high school level. As mentioned earlier this summer, as Tramble gets quicker and faster on his feet, he’s going to turn into a much higher regarded prospect in this region. Because Tramble becoming more athletic, combined with the skills and IQ he already has, he’s going to once again be one of the top guards in the state.
