All except for one of the guys listed below are making a key transition from sophomores to juniors, and this coming season will be key in determining what direction their game will go. As for the lone 2025, he has shown great potential over the summer and should have plenty of opportunities in the coming year.
McFerran is a long wing who can affect the game inside and out. He hits the three-ball with growing efficiency, has a pretty good handle for his size and length, and is a decent leaper at the rim. He’s also a wiry guy that can make an impact on the boards as long as he’s mixing it up in the paint. This guy has the potential to make a big leap this season and if he does, look for Jackson to be a problem in the Wesco 4A.
Kellen Walford
Kellen Walford
Walford feels heavily overlooked as a budding big man in the 4A MCC. Southridge endured a tough season last year but over the summer Walford showed he can be a real threat on the court. He has great length and uses it to defend the rim but also can handle the rock, step out and hit threes, and has good touch at the hoop. He could be a real steal on the recruiting trail and his game should continue to grow in the coming year.
Last season, Davis went on to finish 19-3 and earned a trip to the state playoffs. It wouldn’t be all that surprising to see them return, with three underclassmen supplying big minutes last season, Garza being one of them. This season he’ll presumably have a bigger role inside. He’s is a tough player who secures rebounds, has good moves from the short corner and high post, and has no issues stepping outside to knock down long-range shots. His toughness will be key this winter, taking a leadership role with the other returning playrs.
The lone freshman on this list, Wells should step in right away to decent minutes on a team that finished 24-3 and in 4th place at the 1A state tournament. They return only one varsity player over 6’0″ tall and not a single forward. The big freshman should get tested right out of the gates but he is well-versed around the rim, blocking shots and hitting from close in. He takes his time inside and should be an impact player for the Scotties.
Zaevion Gladney

The Bombers only lose three players from last season’s varsity squad, but that shouldn’t stop Gladney from stepping in and having an immediate presence. He has a great handle for his size and he likes to use it a lot from the post. He has a variety of post moves using good strength and footwork to maneuver around defenders. He also has good athleticism and good vision as a passer, which should benefit him in hitting cutters from the post up and filling any role on the fast break.
