PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Milan Momcilovic Milan Momcilovic 6'8" | SF Pewaukee | 2023 State #44 Nation WI
Momcilovic has won this award for two-straight seasons. Why not make it three? The Iowa State commit averaged averaged 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while leading Pewaukee to a second-straight Division 2 state title. With the Pirates losing a handful of key seniors, including a pair of Division 2 prospects, Momcilovic, who’s coming off a monster summer, has the potential to put up scary numbers while also winning his third consecutive gold ball.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Julian Alvarez Julian Alvarez 6'0" | SG Pius XI | 2024 State WI
With Pius XI losing Jaquell Chisom, Alvarez should emerge as the No. 2 option next to Johnson. A quick-trigger sniper with speed on the ball, Alvarez averaged 10.4 points per game as a sophomore. He nailed 70 3-pointers while shooting 42.2 percent from downtown.
SURPRISE PLAYER: Josh Knueppel
Think Knueppel is a sneaky contender to grab an All-Conference spot. He was quietly productive for the Vikings last season and is a big part of their high-octane offense. With Lutheran being so loaded at the guard/wing spots, Knueppel gets overlooked, but he averaged 8.0 ppg and shot 45.9 percent from 3-point range as a junior.
