Da’Veon Lewis- CME Elite (CE King High School F, 2023)
Da’Veon showed this weekend that scoring points is not all that goes into a victory. In both games I watched, he played an enforcer type role for his team. In his team’s 67-36 victory over the Mo City Ballers, he had a total of 10 points on 5/6 shooting and he also pulled down 10 rebounds to give himself a double-double. The 67-20 victory over the Rebels saw Lewis score a total of 6 points on 4/5 shooting along with 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals that came with him being a pest on defense. The bottom line this tournament was that no one could stop this man under the basket. He has a very bright future if he continues to perform at this high of a level, which would not be a surprise at this point.
J’Mar Franklin- C3 Black (St. Thomas High School G, 2024)
Mr. Franklin was very disruptive on defense in the game against the Rebels from the very start, racking up 4 of his 5 steals in the first half. He also was a very good guard combo with teammate Tristan Lisbony, as they worked together to slice apart the defense effectively. J’Mar ended the game with 14 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals. He was adept at making sure the opposing guard was never comfortable bringing the ball up and contesting every single shot.
Cameron Allen- C3 Red (St Thomas High School F, 2022)
Allen played a big role for the C3 Red 17u squad in their game against the Rebels, scoring 12 points on 6/10 shooting and pulling down 7 rebounds, as well as dishing out 6 assists. Most of Allen’s points came from underneath the basket as he played like a traditional big and had a very effective finishing touch. He was an intimidating presence on defense also swatting away shots with 6 blocks. If Allen continues to play at this high level, it will be very hard for opposing teams to score in the paint.
Tra’Von Gordon- Steam Ahead ( Cy Springs High School G, 2023)
The versatile guard from Steam Ahead 17u had his best shooting on display in Sundays victory over a tough North Houston Hustle team, coming away with 11 points on 3/4 from beyond the arc. He also was effective at driving and dishing the rock to his teammates, who were good about knocking down their shots when they received opportunities. Gordon finished the game with 11 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds while also going 2/2 from the free throw line.
