KPark is hosting their annual summer spring league where these HS athletes have a chance to build chemistry with their varsity teammates. This also gives them to the chance to play some quality competition and get some offseason practice. There were lots of underrated performers, but here are some who caught my eye with their high-level play.
Carson displayed great versatility and awareness in the Panther’s spring league games against Montgomery and Klein Cain. Conner knows how to attack the rim when he has an opening and also can beat the defense off the shot. He plays physical defense and is constantly able to stay in front of his matchup. He will play a big role in Park’s offense this year as a focal point of playmaking and slashing.
Highlights
Noah was a big time impact player in the post for Montgomery in their close loss against Kingwood Park. Stull showed ability to stretch the floor and was lethal off the pick and roll, functioning as the screener and getting easy cuts to the basket. Noah is aggressive on the glass, helping to secure rebounds on both ends of the floor and is effective as a break starter.
Highlights
Matthew was the main playmaker for his Tomball squad as he facilitated the offense and controlled the pace of the game. He was a very unselfish player and always was willing to make the open pass to a teammate. He showed great speed and quickness driving to the basket, finishing multiple layups through contact.
Highlights
Brad Garcia
Brad Garcia
Brad was a clutch shooter for Kingwood Park in crunch time during their two close contests on Wednesday night. He knows where to spot up on the offensive end and move without the ball. He is vocal on defense and notched several steals during the games for easy transition points. Garcia is a very underrated player on this Panther squad and will continue to make an impact as the year progresses.
Jeremiah Wotten
Jeremiah Wotten
Jeremiah was effective scoring from all three levels against Kingwood Park this game. He drove to the basket, hit jump shots off the midrange, and even made a few threes. His agility and athleticism is what allows him to score the ball at will, and he plays fundamental defense while being aggressive on the ballhandler.
