A 6-3 do-it-all wing, Hargens had a massive junior year for the Rebels, nearly averaging a double-double (9.9 rebounds) to go with highly efficient scoring. He posted 53-37-81 shooting splits, showing his ability to fill it up from all three levels in a hurry.
2.) 2024 Owen Larson Owen Larson 6'1" | PG Estherville Lincoln Central | 2024 State IA (Estherville Lincoln Central) – 22.1
A South Dakota State commit, Larson enjoyed a breakout sophomore year for the Midgets, helping lead them to the substate final before losing to eventual champion Rock Valley. He’s a shifty lead guard who can fill it up from all three levels in a hurry, showing excellent touch around the rim and a silky smooth jumper off the dribble. He’s also an excellent passer who gets others involved at a high clip.
3.) 2023 Caden Kirkman Caden Kirkman 6'8" | PF Wilton | 2023 State IA (Wilton) – 20.8
A dominant two-way player who scores at a remarkably efficient clip around the bucket, Kirkman uses his great size (6-8) with elite footwork and touch to score with ease on his post touches. He has an array of go-to post moves and counter moves that he uses to score on the block. He’s also a talented passer who recognizes the double early, and he’s worked to continue to extend his range.
4.) 2023 Padraig Gallagher Padraig Gallagher 6'5" | SF Beckman Catholic | 2023 State IA (Beckman Catholic) – 20.4
A big, physical wing who is among the best shooters in the state, Gallagher has really improved his ability to create his own shot over the last two years, and his offensive production has taken off as a result. He does a great job using his 6-4/6-5 frame to bully his way to the rim for finishes, and when he pairs that with his smooth stroke, he’s nearly impossible to defend at this level.
5.) 2023 Jackson Manning Jackson Manning 5'11" | PG Van Buren County | 2023 State IA (Van Buren County) – 19.7
The Warriors won just four games last season, but Manning was a standout, averaging nearly 20 points a game. He accounted for nearly 42% of the team’s scoring output as a junior.
6.) 2023 Zach Lutmer Zach Lutmer 6'1" | PG Central Lyon | 2023 IA (Central Lyon) – 19.7
Lutmer has committed to play football at Iowa, but he’s also a standout on the hardwood, helping lead the Lions to a runner-up finish last season. He’s an outstanding athlete who finishes above the rim and uses his physicality to bully his way to the bucket in the halfcourt. He’s extremely efficient, posting 55-41-74 shooting splits.
7.) 2023 Drew Chance Drew Chance 6'2" | PF Albia | 2023 State IA (Albia) – 19.6
A talented 6-4 forward who can score efficiently inside, Chance was asked to step into a playmaker role last year for the Blue Demons and thrived, dishing out nearly 4 assists a game to go with 8.1 rebounds.
8.) 2023 Beckett DeJean Beckett DeJean 6'2" | PG OABCIG | 2023 State IA (OABCIG) – 19.0
An athletic 6-3 combo guard, DeJean is at his best when he’s playing downhill and attacking the rim, using his athleticism and strength to finish through contact. He led the Falcons in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and blocks last year, following in older brother Cooper’s footsteps.
9.) 2023 Tate Petersen Tate Petersen 6'1" | PG Monticello | 2023 State IA (Monticello) – 18.9
A three-year varsity starter for the Panthers, Petersen has steadily improved his all-around scoring ability over the last few years, turning himself into a dominant three-level scorer. He’s coming off a huge summer with the Iowa Mavericks as a shooter and playmaker, and looks primed to have a massive senior year for a Panthers team that we have ranked #1 to start the season.
10.) 2023 Landon Blatchford Landon Blatchford 6'6" | SF West Monona | 2023 State IA (West Monona) -18.6
A 6-4 forward, Blatchford was dominant as a junior, averaging a double-double with 11.3 rebounds to go with his huge scoring output. He can score from all three levels and does a great job using his ability to pound the offensive glass to add to his scoring.
