Jonathan Mekonnen Jonathan Mekonnen 6'8" | PF Eastview | 2024 State #201 Nation MN of Eastview/Minnesota Heat. This 6’7 (and growing) forward has a lot of qualities that most prospects don’t have, and he’s just starting to play in a way that makes us think he will be a mid major or high major prospect when he heads off to college. Mekonnen has the size, he’s explosive off his feet allowing him to be a two way threat, Jonathan plays hard, he’s become far more skilled facing the basket, and he’s a hard working great kid. Minnesota and Iowa State are the most recent teams in contact.
Henry Tschetter Henry Tschetter 6'3" | SG Stewartville | 2024 State MN of Stewartville/Minnesota Heat. Tschetter checked a lot of boxes that push him up the charts as a prospect: he’s grown taller, grown stronger, has become more consistent at a high level of 16u play, and he’s played the role as both a scorer and a playmaker. Tschetter had a fantastic summer and I think he could take another huge step forward in the winter.
Marley Baah-Yeboah Marley Baah-Yeboah 6'3" | SF Lakeville South | 2024 State MN of Lakeville South/D1 Minnesota. Marley has a higher level of athletic potential than most: he’s quick off his feet, runs well, and laterally can beat players to spots with his quick steps. The reason he is moving up? We started to see him play a more consistent game this summer and if that continues he will rise up as a prospect.
Ryan Johnson Ryan Johnson 6'4" | SG Lakeville South | 2024 State MN of Lakeville South/Minnesota Select 17s. The big thing for Ryan was us just being able to see him play (he sat out last winter) and the 6’4 strong guard/wing surely stepped up competing at the 17u level. We saw him play in a clutch way for Select, he did things around the basket with his strength but also showed off that guard skill bot on and off the ball. Johnson is going to make South a very tough team to beat.
Brandon Hrncir Brandon Hrncir 6'8" | PF Farmington | 2024 State MN of Farmington/Minnesota Fury. Brandon is a bit bigger, he shot the ball a lot better this summer, he rebounded well, and became a scorer that the Fury could rely on. There are pick and pop parts to his game and there are active forward pieces to what he does. Is becoming a scholarship level prospect.
Patrick Rowe Patrick Rowe 6'6" | SF Chisago Lakes | 2024 State MN of Chisago Lakes/Minnesota Heat. Rowe might be the best player at Chisago Lakes we’ve seen in ten years, maybe fifteen! Rowe had a great sophomore season as the team’s top scorer but the bigger thing was seeing Rowe play like a consistent three/big wing at a high level of AAU competition.
Colton Benson Colton Benson 6'5" | SF New Ulm | 2024 State MN of New Ulm/Minnesota Rise 17s Benson, along with Jason Osborne, have taken New Ulm to places that I’ve never seen in my 19 years of covering high school basketball in Minnesota. Benson is tough and can do things around the basket but we’ve also seen him shoot the ball at a near 40 percent level at the arc. Played up this past spring/summer and played well.
