Once again, a disclaimer that we are aware that the Shore is re-aligning divisions this year, so this preview is based off teams that competed in B-North LAST winter.
Jordan Winnik Jordan Winnik 6'2" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ | 6’2” | G | Saint John Vianney 2023
Winnik played a support role in the Lancers solid season last year but will be tasked with being one of the lead guards in the program as they replace the large shoes that have graduated with Nate Williams. He’s a good ballhandler who can pull up beyond the arc and also attack the rim and finish strong. Winnik had 13 vs now closed Mater Dei and 9 vs Middletown South and Freehold Boro as top games. He’s played with the well respected Jersey Force AAU program.
Emanuel Domingo Emanuel Domingo 6'6" | PF St. John Vianney | 2024 State NJ | 6’6” | F | Saint John Vianney 2024
Domingo is a new addition to the fold, having transferred over from Sayreville High at the end of the year. He saw time last year and showcased a skillset that was fairly broad. He can attack the rim, has length and athleticism and can also shoot from deep. He’s long and lean. As he fills out he could become a key player for the Lancers.
Will Surdez Will Surdez 6'3" | CG Colts Neck | 2023 State NJ | 6’3” | G |Colts Neck 2023
Surdez is a strong three sport star who utilizes his football strength to his advantage on the court. He’s a physical guard. Explosive off the dribble and can pull up in the mid range. He’s crafty around the rim and has no issue fighting through contact with his 210lb frame. If not for a ‘Rona shortened season in 20-21, Surdez would likely be a lock for 1,000pts, though he’s just about 400 away so it’s not impossible after an explosive junior year. He had 26 vs a solid Keyport team, 24 vs Matawan and Middletown North and 25 vs Lacey. Expect him to compete for All Shore Honors as a senior in multiple sports. Football seems to be his future, though he could easily be a college basketball player as well.
Nick Valentino Nick Valentino 6'0" | PG Red Bank Regional | 2023 State NJ | 6’2” | G | Red Bank Regional 2023
Valentino carried RBR in ’21-22. He’s a strong guard who hit for nearly 500 pts. Excellent shooting form and can use his big frame to attack the room and get through contact easily at nearly 200lb. He’s got a high basketball IQ and will be an All Shore type player as a senior. He’s played AAU with the Jersey Shore Predators. Dropped 19 on RFH, 23 and 21 on SJV, 26 on Keyport and 22 on Manasquan. Colleges should be knocking down the door for him and for his teammate Colin Teter.
Collin Teter Collin Teter 6'3" | SG Red Bank Reg | 2023 State NJ | 6’3” | G | Red Bank Regional 2023
Valentino’s backcourt mate, Teter can play an inside-out game. He can extend beyond the arc but is also comfortable playing with his back to the basket. He had 18 vs Mon Don and SJV and hit a three in his final 13 games of his junior year. He played AAU for East Coast Cyclones and holds a very high GPA, which should make him very popular among higher academic D3s.
