There is plenty of hoops going on with travel team events, but we also had a chance to evaluate some of the top prospects from Southern Illinois at the Pure Sweat Illinois Bears Summer Combine! Check out our top performers from the event here broken down by their teams at the event!

Orange

[player_tooltip player_id="989273" first="Grant" last="Fridley"] (Trenton Wesclin – 2023)

Fridley is a McKendree commit that has such a smooth game. He has a super high basketball IQ getting others involved with his passing in both transition and the half court. Mixed in some scoring, but it was his passing that proved most effective in this setting.

Owen Webb (Mayfield, KY – 2025)

This 5’11” lead guard from Kentucky is a guard that can really shoot it in the pull up game. He drained them from all over the floor hitting stop and pop twos along with running into transition threes and off the catch triples.

Coryion Lewis (Carbondale – 2025)

Lewis is a lefty two guard that absolutely dominated in transition. Slick handle and got to the rim for layups or was an effective wing finisher filling the lanes for buckets.

Brajone Dabney (Mayfield, KY – 2024)

Another Kentucky product here as this 5’10” guard threw great outlets and handled it well in the open floor getting up and down the floor for scores. Has a burst to the rim.

Colton Hawkins (Carterville – 2026)

This was my first look at the younger Hawkins brother. This 5’11” combo guard is a plus shooter just like his older brother as he drained an array of threes and mixed in some crisp passing.

[player_tooltip player_id="1055130" first="McGrady" last="Noyes"] (Triad – 2023)

Noyes is a 6’5” small forward that brings a lot to like at the small college level. Excellent size, strength, and skill. Loves the mid-range game whether it is pulling up on a two dribble shot or draining a step back. Also uses his strength finishing on drives to the rim.

Jace Birney (Ballard Memorial, KY – 2025)

Birney is a wing at 6’3” that had an effective showing at the event. Slick ball handler utilizing euro steps, spin moves, and was active on the offensive glass for put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id="1428864" first="Mason" last="Shubert"] (Breese Central – 2024)

This 6’2” wing was outstanding as a passer at the event. He threw several bullet passes that were on point for scores. Offensively he was best using his spin move and burst to get to the rack.

Black

[player_tooltip player_id="1165298" first="Tracy" last="Harris"] (Metro East Lutheran – 2023)

Harris stands at 5’8” and the lead guard is a solid all around guard. He was good using his speed getting up and down the floor for scores while also being a quality shooter hitting a few threes and baseline jumpers.

Griffen Becker (Breese Central – 2025)

Becker opened eyes at the event with his play. At 6’2” the young wing is a plus three point shooter particularly being effective from the corners. Flashed some overall skill potential across the board. One to track.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048391" first="Kade" last="Lustenberger"] (Carterville – 2023)

Lustenberger had the best individual performance dropping 29 points in a 20 minute running clock game. The 6’5” Carterville wing was lethal with his jump shooting all game long. He was draining them off the catch and pulling up on the wings in transition. Such a consistent release with elevation. One of the best shooting performances we have seen in a while. D2s need to monitor him!

[player_tooltip player_id="1476095" first="Tyler" last="Franklin"] (Cobden – 2023)

Always enjoy watching Franklin play. The 6’6” 215 pound four man is a productive post that brings versatility to the table. Spot up shooter that knocks in open looks. Pounds the glass on both ends of the floor. Seals well on the block and is a quality past defender that rebounds well in his area.

Green

Drew Barrington (Carterville – 2025)

It has been cool to see Barrington grow up from a little kid that was hanging around these camps to putting up big numbers at them. The 6’0” lead guard was very good in the two games we saw. He is a slick ball handler that shakes defenders getting in the lane and putting the ball up on the backboard for layups. Consistently lived in the lane all night. Shot fakes leading into floaters. Also a capable spot up shooter. Sound passer that makes good decisions with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1157347" first="Jake" last="Ottensmeier"] (Highland – 2024)

This dual sport star was outstanding at the event. His jumper was feathery as all get out! He was knocking in one and two dribble pull ups over and over again. Fouled on several takes to the rim. Primed for a big season.

[player_tooltip player_id="939049" first="Cade" last="Altadonna"] (Highland – 2023)

The rising senior from Highland is a compact lefty combo guard that has a big time pull up game from mid-range and uses his strength to finish in the paint.

Docker Tedeschi (Benton – 2025)

Tedeschi might have been the biggest breakout player from the event. At 6’7” the power forward has a lanky and projectable frame. He was extremely active on both ends as a shot blocker and rebounder. Plus shooter knocking in threes off the catch and pulling up. Good athlete that can handle it a little as well. Will be one we continue to track closely after a big showing at the camp!

Race Hickey (Marion – 2025)

Big bodied five listed at 6’6” but looked taller. He isn’t very athletic or coordinated at this stage, but there is a lot to work with here. Decent area rebounder. Struggled finishing. Potential as a mid-range shooter. Developmental post prospect to monitor.

White

Will Shields (Murphysboro – 2025)

Nice showing from this 5’11” combo guard. Very athletic slashing to the hoop getting to the rim for scoop shots and dunks. Burst with the ball in his hands.

Kaden Wilson (Carterville – 2026)

Wilson is a 6’0” combo guard that is a rising freshman. Held his own doing most of his damage in the open floor running the court or splitting the defense for scores at the hoop. Good athlete.

[player_tooltip player_id="1431822" first="Kellen" last="Scott"] (Pinckneyville – 2023)

Scott stands at 6’3” and was one of the more intriguing three and D prospects at the camp. Showed flashes defensively with his active hands getting steals and taking them the other way for scores. Also made threes at a high clip during the event.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113525" first="Caden" last="Hawkins"] (Carterville – 2023)

Hawkins is a combo guard that is a big time jump shooter especially pulling up from two in the 15-18 foot range. He pushed in transition and got to the rim where he converted with athleticism. Likes the floater game as well. Primed for a monster senior campaign.
