. The shifty playmaker nearly led his team back from a 17-point halftime deficit, trimming the lead to single digits before running out of gas. Murphy is light on his feet. He has the ball on a string as he uses quick bursts of speed dart laterally before heading downhill. Sean has a sharp low crossover that he uses in traffic to split traps. Murphy’s creative handle helps him get to his spots. He lit it up from the corners and used ball fakes to let defenders fly by when pulling up from the mid-range. Murphy netted 20 points on Sunday morning, sinking a trio of threes.
2023 6-1 PG Arliss Bermudez – Beast Elite Blue
Arliss was the engine for Beast Elite Blue. He quickly stood out as the catalyst, providing major energy on both sides of the floor. His aggressive on-ball ball defense got Beast Elite Blue out in transition. Bermudez hunted his shot early on, creating off the bounce and connecting with his jump shot. Arliss used his agility to slice to the rim and was able to get others involved as well. He tallied 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.
2023 6-0 CG JayQuan Nelson – ENG United
Following a scoreless first half, the human microwave was set to cook, pouring in 23 points to rally ENG United past a plucky GSW Elite team, 70-65. Nelson added 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, but it was unquestionably his offense that saved the day. Once Nelson saw his first of five threes drop, the rest was history. JayQuan scored off the dribble with his outside shot, creating space with step-backs. He’s one of Northwest Georgia’s most dangerous binge scorers.
2023 6-2 G Keshaun Pace – ENG United
Quietly regarded as one of the better players west of Atlanta, Keshaun Pace put together another strong showing, tallying 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal. He has developed into a stat sheet stuffer. Pace is really good at getting into the paint and finishing in traffic. His activity away from the ball makes him a valuable piece that always finds ways to positively impact games.
2023 6-0 G Carter Carbonell – I AM 3
You can win a lot of games with a steady guard like Carter Carbonell. He was consistent throughout in I AM 3’s 79-69 victory to open Sunday morning. Carbonell is a good shooter off the dribble, sinking a pair of pull-up threes. Once he had the respect of the defense playing out on him, he was able to make some crafty moves to the rim, finishing floaters and converting And-1s. Carter had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
