The first live period of the month of July is officially behind us. I spent Wednesday through Sunday down in and around the Atlanta, Georgia area covering UAA/UA Rise Session III, the NY2LA Best of the South, and Prep Hoops Live Atlanta. It was an exceptional run of basketball with a ton of prospects being evaluated across the different events. Before diving into some top performers and other takeaways from the events as a whole, let’s empty out the notebook from my morning at the Georgia International Convention Center watching Prep Hoops Live Atlanta action.

Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 16u Defeats D1 Indiana-2

Throughout the Prep Hoop Circuit, especially when speaking about the Grit Region, Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite has been one of the better under-the-radar teams. They have great guard play and some intriguing prospects in the front court as well. On Sunday morning it all came together for an impressive 61-45 victory against D1 Indiana-2 16u.

6’2" guard [player_tooltip player_id="1187994" first="Michael" last="Crawford"] (Gateway H.S. 2024) really stood out with his ability to attack the basket off of the dribble. Crawford showed some really shiftiness to his game, finished very well, and was a terror in transition. He finished with a game-high 25 points. In the loss for D1 Indiana-2, point guard Tim Williams (North Central H.S. 2024) led the way with 14 points.

Team Teague 15u Asserts Their Dominance

There simply aren’t many teams in the country at the 15u level with the talent that Team Teague has. That is especially true on the Prep Hoops Circuit. [player_tooltip player_id="1373105" first="Mark" last="Zackery"] (Ben Davis H.S. 2025) is the engine that runs the show as the team’s point guard. His length and defensive ability are well known, but on Sunday he was really showing off the offensive prowess. Zackery was getting to the rim at ease and knocked down some three-pointers off of the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297113" first="Shane" last="Sims"] Jr. (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) was also excellent on Sunday pouring in five three-pointers in the first half. He is absolutely one of the best pure shooters in Indiana’s Class of 2025. Other standouts on the day included versatile 6’4" wing [player_tooltip player_id="1296998" first="Cedric" last="Horton"]-Hogg (Richmond H.S. 2025) and 6’0" guard [player_tooltip player_id="1297093" first="Michael" last="Cooper"] (Jeffersonville H.S. 2025).

D1 Indiana 15u Notches Another Win

This group has been really fun to watch throughout the Prep Hoops Circuit. They are now 23-2 on the circuit after a hard fought 72-67 win over G4WYW 15u on Sunday. This time it was Ben Slagley (New Palestine H.S. 2025) leading a balanced scoring affair with 21 points while high school teammate [player_tooltip player_id="1297068" first="Julius" last="Gizzi"] (New Palestine H.S. 2025) added 17 points.

EG10 15u Cruises to Finish Weekend With a Win

It was a tough trip to Atlanta for EG10 going up against some outstanding competition from across the country. However, on Sunday, they were able to impose their will on Sparks Basketball 15u and cruise to a 78-50 victory. In this one it was the [player_tooltip player_id="1297023" first="Eric" last="Hopson"] (Decatur Central H.S. 2025) early and often for EG10. The super athletic 6’2" guard poured in 28 points to lead all scorers. 5’11" guard [player_tooltip player_id="1297034" first="Hudson" last="Horvath"] (Park Tudor 2024) added 14 points while 5’9" point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1381461" first="Zion" last="Bellamy"] (Kokomo H.S. 2025) chipped in 13 points.
