The Hustle Region Finals is behind us. 3 days 15-17U teams battled it out at AIM Sportsplex in Seal Beach/CA.
I primarily watched the 16 and 17U divisions plus some 15U games.
Here were some of the top shooters I viewed from the 2022-23 class:
Cameron Wood SF 6’4 2023 Rancho Bernardo/CA (D1 Southern California 2023) (Pictured)
One of the most clutch performances on Day-1 was Wood. He hit two daggers from beyond the arc to close out the victory. He has range and a quick trigger. He proceeded to shoot the ball well all weekend long.
Dalton Norvell SG 6’2 2023 Ramona/CA (Coastal Elite 2023)
A highly skilled scoring guard is a steady performer. He is a catch and shoot three point shooter but comes with toughness. He will fight on defense and grab out of area rebounds. He makes the extra pass, hits shots and plays the right way.
[player_tooltip player_id="1441990" first="Luis" last="Bravo"] Desert Edge (Team REAL 2023)
A sharp shooter gets hot quickly. He may be undersized but he gets his shot off with range. He has some shift to his handle to create separation and then he will release the shot from the 3pt line.
Mason Juergens SG 6’2 2023 Olympia (Roots Academy 2023)
A sturdy framed guard takes a lot of pressure off of Gerrits. He smartly moves without the ball and will spot up and let it fly from the 3pt line. He uses his football frame to get downhill and is a physical two-way player. He also happens to be a stud D1 football wide receiver.
[player_tooltip player_id="1514116" first="Kobe" last="Harris"] Taylor Made Prep (TMP Elite 2023)
A flamethrower of a shooter gets hot in a blink of an eye. He has good range and supreme confidence. He is a 2022 that will be re-classing to 2023. He is stronger to handle contact once he gets into the lane to score. He scores it off the dribble and pulls-up from mid.
[player_tooltip player_id="1514117" first="Isaiah" last="Baptista"] Taylor Made Prep (TMP Elite 2023)
Another 2022 that is re-classing to 2023 and can fill it up as well. He has good court vision but his best attribute is definitely his shooting. He squares up like you should and shoots it with some range. He can drive and kick it to a teammate.
[player_tooltip player_id="1416316" first="Parker" last="Baumann"] Shorecrest (BDH Elite 2023)
A consistent shooter off the dribble or catch. He is best off the catch from the three point line and likes to pull-up from mid-range. He cuts, makes smart reads, makes the extra pass and will defend. He has one of the better mid-range jumpers.
Gary Williams II SG 6’5 2022 Grace Christian/NC (NC Wildcats 2023)
A 3 and D type. Williams has a sturdy frame, good size for a wing and length. He is primarily off the catch from the three point line and has a high release and a consistent approach. He is good in transition and plays hard.
