The event featured some of the top private schools from Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina, and had hundreds of college coaches in attendance. We’ll have tons of content from the weekend, continuing with some of the 2025 standouts from VA.
Shane Lincoln Shane Lincoln 6'4" | PG Bishop O'Connell | 2025 State VA | 6’3” CG | Bishop O’Connell
Lincoln was impressive in session one and showed flashes, but in session two he really stepped it up and showed he could be one of the top young guards in the DMV area. At 6’3” he has great length and size as a combo and moves very well for his age, he can put it on the deck and is shifty without over dribbling and he can get in the lane where he can make plays for himself and others. He can stick it from deep when he’s open and has a lot of potential on the defensive end too.
Chance Mallory Chance Mallory 5'10" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2025 State #73 Nation VA | 5’8” CG | STAB
Many have doubted Mallory for years because of his size despite the fact that he’s played varsity basketball since he was in 7th grade, and while I don’t doubt him as I’ve seen him play for years now he put himself on the map during these live periods as he outplayed a lot of bigger guards who have a lot more buzz around them too. Mallory is as skilled as they come, as he can drill shots from well beyond the NBA line with ease and can create shots from deep off the bounce, he has a great understanding of the game and how to get open and he gets to the line a lot and he is consistently productive and efficient offensively while making an impact defensively too. He’s a super tough and skilled kid who consistently finds ways to make positive plays on both ends of the floor.
Austin Williford Austin Williford 6'4" | CG Saint Anne’s Belfield | 2025 State #137 Nation VA | 6’5” WF | STAB
Williford has shown flashes of brilliance since he stepped on the floor for STAB as an eighth grader, and this was his coming out party as he showed he’ll be one of the top two way players in VA over the next few years. At 6’5” he’s long and super bouncy as he uses his length to get deflections and rebound on both ends of the floor, he can get downhill and finish through traffic off the bounce and he’s able to knock down shots from deep when open and in the midrange off the bounce. He plays with a good motor and seems to get more and more aggressive every time I see him, and as he’s figuring it out he still has a lot of room to get better too.
Christian Gurdak Christian Gurdak 6'9" | C Gonzaga | 2025 State #156 Nation MD | 6’9” C | Paul VI
Gurdak got the nod as the top prospect in the first 2025 rankings on Prep Hoops VA, and the 6’9” big man showed why at both sessions of DMV Live as he is just a handful to deal with in the paint. “Big Country,” as I’ve nicknamed him, is just a massive kid for his age and takes up a lot of space and is intimidating in the post, he has great hands and feet in the post to get position and catch tough passes and he has soft touch with both hands whether it’s over the shoulder or around the rim. He continues to get his body right and become more and more mobile and explosive, and he knows his game and is super efficient and productive in the paint.
Donovan Richardson Donovan Richardson 6'6" | PG Steward | 2025 State #166 Nation VA | 6’5” CG | Collegiate
Richardson is as intriguing as they come in the 2025 class in VA, as the young combo guard possesses a mix of size and skillset you don’t see in many young guards. The 6’5” Richardson has very strong legs and it allows him to take a lot of contact when he gets downhill and play through it, he has a good handle and pace to his game allowing him to get to spots on the floor and create space and he possesses a good IQ and feel for the game with the ball in his hands. He scored it efficiently and in different ways throughout the event and still has a lot of room to get better moving forward.
