July 2nd-3rd I attended the Brawl for the Ball Prep Hoops Circuit located at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ. This is one of the last stops before the Hustle Region Finals on the July 15th-17th weekend in Seal Beach/CA.

I focused on 16U but watched some 17U as well.

There were 13 teams in the division so I made four All-16U Tournament teams featuring seven or eight players per team.

Here is the 1st team breakdown of the seven players:

1st team

[player_tooltip player_id="1123041" first="Bradey" last="Henige"] Cactus/AZ (D1 Nation AZ 2024)

Size, skill and passing are his elite traits. He has soft hands and will go to work inside the paint and score through contact plus step out and hit the three. Anytime he was double teamed he found the open man and rebounds and blocks shots at a high level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1036000" first="Khalon" last="Johnson"] Bella Vista Prep/AZ (New Mexico D1 2024)

An athletic combo guard had an impressive showing. He scores it many ways from drives, pull-ups and catches from mid to the 3pt line. He has good length to play the passing lanes and he made multiple timely passes to cutting teammates. His defense is obvious with a good motor to rebound and play the passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id="1336435" first="Tyler" last="Hutton"] Cactus/AZ (D1 Nation AZ 2024)

A long wing forward who is very versatile. He can shoot it from mid to the three plus run the court and flush it down high above the crowd. He had one of the better dunks of the opening day. He rebounds the ball and can push it and make a play. He scores on put backs and made many passes that led to scores.

[player_tooltip player_id="1128461" first="Jaevyn" last="Yancey"] Higley/AZ (Swish365 2024)

The long and somewhat lean stretch-four is improving. He hit four triples in one contest and many more the rest of the weekend. He rebounds the ball at its highest point using his size and length. He can flush it down easily above the rim and he is starting to get more confident.

[player_tooltip player_id="1485589" first="Micah" last="Anderson"] North Thurston/WA (Team Anderson Elite 2024)

A young soph who controlled his team and plays with a big IQ. He plays with a good pace and is very controlled. He facilitates then scores. He has a lot of skill from pull-ups, ball fakes, good footwork inside the paint and 3’s. He smartly takes advantage of his size and skill to score in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="1366003" first="Jaden" last="Vance"] AZ Compass Prep/AZ (Team RHJ 2024/23) (Pictured)

A long baby faced guard has skill and upside. He can shoot it from the perimeter plus get to the rim with a burst. He has the pull-up and the catch-3. He uses his wingspan on the defensive end to collect steals and will dunk the ball on the break. He is a better passer then he gets credited with and he played one 17U game and more then held his own.

[player_tooltip player_id="1450638" first="Seth" last="Whitehead"] Legend/CO (Colorado Premier 2024-1)

Shooter!! One of the top shooters at the event. He has unlimited range. He was arguably the most confident player I viewed. He was taking shots from anywhere on the court and made shots most won’t even attempt. He is a good passer and he can take a bump and score through contact.
