After some drills and skill work to start the day, the players competed in a final four style playoff in front of college coaches and media. Let’s take a look at some off the top performers that we saw on the day.
He took home the WJG Classic MVP Award, putting up big time numbers in both games, using his athletic ability to make plays above the rim on both ends of the floor but also showing some of his perimeter skillset. He scored from all three levels, defended multiple positions and showed why he is a player that college programs will be dropping in to see this season.
Highlights
Every time we get the opportunity to watch him play, he puts on a scoring exhibition in the post and short corners. The WJG Classic was no different as he had a high level of production from start to finish. He’s very comfortable with his back to the basket, has outstanding footwork and plays well thru contact.

One of the top two-way players at the event, he’s one of those players that you love to have on your team and seems to take matchups personally. Offensively he was automatic from midrange but also showcased his ability to get to the basket. On the defensive side of the ball, he displayed some outstanding lateral quickness which made things difficult for opponents.

College coaches will want to keep a very close eye on this young man as he has plenty of the tools that you want to see from a college level Guard. He has good ballhandling skills, handles different types of pressure very well and has outstanding court vision. He understands how to use his height to his advantage and has an outstanding IQ for the game.
Another player that we feel should see a rise in his recruitment over the next few months, Powell put together a nice showing offensively, scoring the ball from multiple levels. His ability to slash and get downhill have already been known, but his improved shooting ability has helped him to become an even more dangerous player.
The top Guard performer at the event, Cooper put on a show for the crowd, but more importantly, was highly productive through both games. He understands how the PG position is supposed to be ran, balancing his scoring with getting others involved. One of his most impressive stats of the night was his work on the offensive boards. He rebounded at a very high rate, despite being one of the smaller players on the court.
