The 2025 class still has a very long way to go but the early returns look like this class is a powerhouse. At this point, 7 members of the class hold at least one D1 offer and there are at least twice that many with the potential to earn D1 offers in the class before they get to graduation down the line. Here’s a look at the biggest movers in our updated rankings.
[player_tooltip player_id="1344606" first="Aveion" last="Chenault"], Frederick Douglass (37-->27) - An athletic wing prospect who is a multi-sport athlete and excels at all of them, Chenault should have a big role for the Broncos this season. Aveion is a high motor wing that is potentially a lockdown defender and is a really good rim protector for his size. A potential breakout player in the 11th this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="1418234" first="Antayvion" last="Lawrence"], Western (59-->41) - "Tayvo" is a pass first point who excels at getting his teammates involved but needs to become more vocal on the court to take his game to the next level. Part of a loaded 2025 class at Western, Lawrence is overlooked but will be expected to play a bench role this season for the Warriors.
[player_tooltip player_id="1252215" first="Griffen" last="Derry"], Dixie Heights (63-->46) - Derry made his name with a 40+ performance at the AAU State tournament in May and Dixie will need him to continue shooting at a high level next season if they have aspirations of making a deep run in the 9th region again.
[player_tooltip player_id="1288978" first="Colton" last="Rawlings"], North Laurel (57-->50) - North is loaded with talent but Colton should be in position to carve out a nice role for himself this season with potential for an even bigger role moving forward after Reed graduates. Rawlings is a good athlete who plays hard and works to impact the game on both ends. He’s had a strong AAU season with Breakdown Kentucky and should have a good role with the Jaguars this year.
[player_tooltip player_id="1148607" first="Layken" last="Lyons"], Taylor County (61-->53) - Layken had a big season for the Cardinals last year and has continued to improve as part of the R5 Elite AAU team this season. Lyons and Taylor County have aspirations of a return to Rupp from the 5th region and if Layken can continue to score the ball at a high level, he and [player_tooltip player_id="1221671" first="Mason" last="Guffey"] will be a really good duo in the 5th.
