The collection of talent in the gym is exceptional and includes many of the nation’s top prospects in addition to a handful of California-based prospects that we have seen at length over the last few years. Below are some standout performers from Sunday night’s action on Court 1 and Court 2.
Dedan Thomas, Jr., Liberty (NV) – Thomas is one of those guys that other campers like playing with because of his unselfishness and willingness to set teammates up before looking for his own shot. The 6-foot-1 true point guard doesn’t over-handle in transition or the half-court setting, makes timely and accurate passes, is a patient pick-and-roll decision-maker and knocked down a handful of open three-point shots.
AJ Johnson AJ Johnson 6'5" | PG Taft | 2023 #26 Nation CA-S , Taft – Johnson flashed his dynamic playmaking ability we’ve come to know and love in both transition and half-court situations, but there were a few things he did that stood out as improvements to his game. In the past, the 6-foot-5 rising senior who carries a thin frame, struggled to finish through contact, but Johnson got into the lane absorbed bumps and stayed on balance while also creating space to get his shot off.
Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN , Totino Grace (MN) – Chatman went about his point guard business with a cool, calm and collected manner that trickled down to his teammates. The 6-foot-3 rising senior out of Minnesota showed great poise and basketball IQ in ball screen action where he dragged out the dribble to create space and a passing lane for his rolling big man. Chatman delivered pinpoint and timely passes to big men and open shooters on drive and kicks.
Robert Hinton Robert Hinton 6'4" | CG Harvard-Westlake | 2024 State #147 Nation CA-S , Harvard-Westlake – Hinton is one of the more trending names out west and if he continues to play and produce at the high level he is right now, the class of 2024 guard will be a national name to watch. The 6-foot-4 rising junior just goes out and plays basketball with a high motor and basketball IQ. Hinton is a dynamic slasher and finisher in the open court and when breaking down defenders in the half-court. His explosiveness off the floor and shiftiness in space makes him a guy who is difficult to keep in front regardless of the situation.
