Continue ReadingWe dropped by the Hoopsource West Coast Spring Showcase on Saturday and our main focus was catching a few 16U/15U games to catch up on the state’s classes of 2024 and 2025. Here’s a look at some of the top players we saw at Evergreen and Union High Schools in Vancouver.
TJ Latu TJ Latu 6'3" | CG Jefferson | 2024 State OR , Oregon Prospects 16U Black (2024 Jefferson)
Latu has seemingly emerged as the go-to guy offensively on this team this spring and for good reason – he knows how to get buckets. The recent Jefferson transfer uses his physicality to bully past opponents on the drive yet has the touch to score around the hoop with either hand. While his long-range jumper wasn’t falling as well as we’ve seen in the past, he still showed off a nice stroke and hit a couple of perimeter jumpers to keep the defense honest.
Vashon Hardges Vashon Hardges 6'2" | CG Grant | 2024 State OR , Oregon Prospects 16U Black (2024 Grant)
As always, Hardges brought his non-stop motor on both ends of the floor and really created some havoc on the defensive end. On this day offensively, he was extremely active getting to the cup and drawing fouls on practically every drive with a couple of and-one finishes to boot.
Brayden Boe Brayden Boe 6'5" | CG Mountainside | 2025 State #254 Nation OR , Oregon Prospects 15U Black (2025 Mountainside)
It wasn’t the greatest shooting game in the action we watched Boe, but the rising sophomore showed why his game isn’t just about scoring. In just one half, he handed out at least five assists, using the dribble-drive to create and his court sense to find open teammates for easy buckets. Boe also flashed his continually improving athleticism by throwing down a fastbreak dunk.
Mason Brierbrauer, Oregon Prospects 15U Black (2025 Barlow)
Brierbrauer turned some heads with an outstanding performance, in particular running the floor and really hitting the boards especially on the offensive end. This led to a number of solid putback buckets as he wasn’t afraid to battle down low. The 6-foot-4 rising sophomore flashed a nice touch from mid-range and will surely be a key varsity newcomer at Barlow next season.
Cole Holum Cole Holum 6'9" | PF Lakeridge | 2024 State OR , G.R.I.T. (2024 Lakeridge)
Long and lanky, Holum spent the majority of his time operating from the elbow down to the block, utilizing his length to score over and around opponents. He ran the floor well, converted around the rim, and showed a pretty nice touch on his mid-range jumper.
Nick Costello, G.R.I.T. (2024 Beaverton)
We really liked the toughness Costello brought to the table on both ends of the floor. He was seemingly always looking to get his hands on the basketball and on the offensive end, moved the rock well and had a couple of tough drives and finishes.
Josh Jackson Josh Jackson 6'4" | SG Centerpoint | 2021 State AL , Tripl3 Impact (2022 Sunset)
Jackson did what he usually does, knock down threes, but also spent quite a bit of time handling the ball against pressure, something in which he’ll be looking at doing more of at the next level. He’s signed with Lower Columbia where he indicated he’s planning on redshirting his first season.
Khalid Hodge, Tripl3 Impact (2024 Westside Christian)
Despite being much younger and often physically overmatched at the 17U level, Hodge held his own. He played confidently with the basketball, looking to create and used his quickness and shiftiness to score around the basket. One reverse spin move and layup had the crowd gasping in delight.
