While Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco Prep are loaded with elite D-1 talent, schools like Saint Joseph’s of Montvale, Paramus Catholic and DePaul also feature a host of players capable of playing at the college level, making the Big North one of the toughest divisions in the state top-to-bottom.
Donovan McKoy Donovan McKoy 6'6" | SF St. Joseph (Mont.) | 2023 State NJ | 6’6” | F | St Joes Montvale 2023
McKoy is a two sport star in Montvale. He had a good junior year for the basketball team but he’s a D1 receiver for the football team with numerous FBS and FCS offers. McKoy is extremely athletic and uses that explosiveness to his advantage when he drives to the basket and elevates over defenders. He’s also capable of scoring at multiple levels and can hit it from deep. He’s got a quick release and good form on his jumper. Averaged 15PPG with 22 vs Wayne Valley and 20 vs DePaul. While he’s got a football future, McKoy could easily be a scholarship level basketball player that area D2s would probably see as a welcome addition. He’s played AAU with the NJ Panthers.
Jahmir Joseph Jahmir Joseph 5'11" | PG St. Joseph (Mont.) | 2025 State NJ | 5’11” | G | Saint Joe’s Montvale 2025
Joseph is a multi-sport athlete who uses his athleticism to his advantage on the hardwood. He made significant contributions to the St Joes cause as a freshman, with big games vs Bergen Catholic(17, 12) Arts and Ridgewood(13) as well as vs Don Bosco(11). He’s got a high basketball IQ and is at his best in the open court. He’s a good ballhandler whose skillset will continue to advance as he matures. He’s a confident player and was unafraid to get into the mix in big games as a freshman. He’ll have a college basketball future if he wants one, but he’s going to have serious opportunities in football as interest and offers are already flooding his mailbox.
Christopher Williams | 5’10” | G | Saint Joe’s Montvale 2023
Williams is a quick and crafty guard who runs the offense for St Joe’s. He’s a good facilitator who can get out in transition and also slow the game down in the half court. He’s capable of scoring from all angles and stepped up as a junior into a leadership role. Active on defense and positionally aware to get himself in spots to pick pockets and create turnovers. He had 18 vs Bergen Catholic, a double-double vs Glen Rock and 14 vs Hackensack, Ridgewood and Bosco. He’s a player that D3 schools throughout the Northeast should be following closely.
Montique Nedd | 6’1” | G | Saint Joe’s Montvale 2023
Nedd came on strong in the second half of his junior year and showed promise. The lefty guard runs the floor well, attacks the paint aggressively and can finish through contact. He also works hard on defense to create turnovers and lock down his man. Good passer who is patient under the bucket and lures defenders in before making his move. Had 20 vs River Dell, 13 vs Union City and DePaul. D3 schools should be checking in.
