Continue ReadingAfter a weekend off for the holidays, the 2022 grassroots circuit fired back up this past Friday night. The top 16U grassroots teams from southeastern PA traveled to places like Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Indianapolis, Indiana; Kansas City, Missouri and Atlantic City, NJ to compete in spring tournaments featuring extremely competitive fields.
With three weeks of tournament action now in the books, there is a shake-up in our Top 10 rankings for southeastern Pennsylvania’s 16U grassroots teams.
Below are our southeastern PA 16U grassroots team rankings for Week #2.
- Team Final EYBL: At the EYBL Session II tournament in Indianapolis, Team Final posted a 3-1 record. Their only loss came at the hands of 16U powerhouse Bradley Beal Elite. Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL was sensational, averaging 18.8 points per game. Nick Coval Nick Coval 6'1" | CG Parkland | 2024 State PA , Moses Hipps Moses Hipps 6'4" | SG AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ and Jalil Bethea Jalil Bethea 6'4" | SG Archbishop Wood | 2024 State #5 Nation PA also posted outstanding performances at this event.
- Philly Revolution: The Revolution assembled a 3-1 record at the Hoop Group Pitt Jam Fest (PA). The Revolution lost in overtime during the semifinals of their 16U division to eventual champion Team Melo EYBL. Josh Reed (16 points in that semi game) and Kevin McCarthy Kevin McCarthy 6'4" | SG Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA were impressive all weekend. Rocco Morabito and Devyn Wright-Myles helped their recruiting stock as well.
- Philly Pride National UAA: After a weekend off, this squad traveled to Kansas City, Missouri for the UAA Session II event. Philly Pride had a tough weekend out in KC (1-3). The faced elite competition and lost to eventual 16U champion Middlesex Magic (MA) by a couple buckets. The backcourt duo of Ty Burton Ty Burton 5'10" | PG Moravian Prep | 2024 State NC and Toby Ojukwu were consistent contributors all tourney.
- K-Low Elite-Black: This K-Low group had a very respectable trip to Steel-town for Pittsburgh Jam Fest. They rang up a 3-1 record on the weekend. Their only loss was at the hands eventual 16U division champion Team Melo EYBL. Darren Williams Darren Williams 6'4" | SG Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA , Touari “Deuce” Ketner Touari “Deuce” Ketner 6'7" | PF Bonner-Prendergast | 2024 State PA , and EJ Campbell EJ Campbell 6'0" | CG Spring Ford | 2024 State PA continued their impressive play.
- East Coast Power-Danzig: ECP-Danzig jumped on a plane to Kansas City, Missouri for UAA Session II and experienced a tough stretch of games against fierce competition. The play of combo guard Matt McCarthy was a bright spot. As was 6’7” interior beast Calvin Szoradi, who averaged around 10 points and 12 boards per game. This roster is stacked with talent and well coached, so we have faith they will bounce back quickly.
