After two years of abnormal recruiting calendars, the Class of 2023 will have a chance for a full spring and summer. It starts this weekend with NCAA Live Period Events all over the country. There are only four windows throughout the busy summer where coaches from Divisional One programs can scout in person. Prospects from Oklahoma will be spread throughout the country, hoping to improve their recruitment and catch the eye of the right coach.

NIKE EYBL: Orlando, FL

Nike's flagship league has Team Griffin representing Oklahoma, while a couple other players spread throughout regional programs.

Team Griffin

17U Players

A great blend of some of Oklahoma's finest, and talented players from bordering states. Griffin should have the backcourt and size to make plenty of noise against the top competition in the country.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068562" first="Brandon" last="Garrison"], 6'9 Forward, Del City

The current top college prospect in Oklahoma's Class of 2023, is fresh off an impressive Team USA Basketball minicamp. He's a monster on the glass and as a shotblocker, with a developing offensive game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068563" first="Trent" last="Pierce"], 6'9 Forward, Union

After an up and down season with Union, Pierce started his spring on a great note as a stretch forward type weapon for Team Griffin a couple weeks ago at Made Hoops.

[player_tooltip player_id="1367213" first="David" last="Castillo"], 6'2 Guard, Bartlesville

Only a sophomore but already a 5 star, he'll be playing up with Team Griffin's 17U team. Super skilled and always in control, Castillo will be looking to cement his national ranking and continuing building to a potential McDonald's All American nomination as a senior.

[player_tooltip player_id="1360350" first="Connor" last="Dow"], 6'6 Wing, Broken Arrow

A lanky shooter with good athleticism, Dow looked comfortable fitting into a 3 and D role against other shoe company teams two weeks ago in Arkansas with Griffin.

[player_tooltip player_id="981287" first="Terry" last="McMorris"], 6'7 Wing, Del City

A human pogo stick, the bouncy McMorris will have the chance to test his defensive abilities against many nationally ranked prospects.

16U Players

[player_tooltip player_id="1367217" first="Dayton" last="Forsythe"], 6'2 Guard, Dale

The small town floor general has an athletic game that will translate to national competition. He's also an outstanding shooter and looks ready to prove that small town numbers can translate to all levels of basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1332074" first="Dylan" last="Warlick"], 6'6 Forward, Edmond North

A walking double-double against Oklahoma competition, the national size is a different sort of challenge for Warlick as he looks to blend his hardhat ways around the rim with an expanded perimeter game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1367221" first="TO" last="Barrett"], 6'3 Guard, Edmond North

The development of Barrett as a lead guard has been meteoric over the last 6 months, ending with a Class 6A State Title last month. Now the elite national competition will represent a new measuring stick for the athletic and strong young guard.

15U

Kaiden Rayfield. 6'8 Forward, Putnam City North

With one of the highest upsides in Class of 2025, the athletic Rayfield's development could be super charged after compeitin against high level talent.

Bradley Beal 17 & 15U

Two Oklahomans have chosen to play for the Saint Louis based program. Class of 2023 Point Guard, [player_tooltip player_id="965255" first="Jeremiah" last="Johnson"] will look to continue to improve his strength and explosiveness to match his already high major skillset with Bradley Beal's 17U program. Meanwhile the top freshman in the state, [player_tooltip player_id="1391439" first="Jaden" last="Nickens"] (Millwood) will be building off his Class 3A State Championship with the 15U Program.

Pro Skills Texas 16U

[player_tooltip player_id="1367220" first="Ethan" last="Wilkerson"] from Silo is a promising southern Oklahoma small town post prospect, who will be playing on the big stage in Florida this weekend with the DFW based Pro Skills.

Adidas 3SSB Circuit

Playing on Adidas' answer to the EYBL, Trae Young's program has some of the top Class of 2024 and 2025 prospects in Oklahoma.

Trae Young Elite

17U

[player_tooltip player_id="981286" first="Sebastian" last="Perry"], 6'1 Guard, Heritage Hall

After an injury derailed part of a promising junior season, Perry finished by helping the Chargers reach another Class 4A State Tournament. Now the skilled guard, is looking to earn Ivy League looks on the national stage.

16U

A heavy 405 favor to this age group, they feature quick and explosive guards Ladainian Fields (Southeast) & Isaac Williams (Putnam City). Throw in high upside, mobile forward [player_tooltip player_id="1367218" first="Jayden" last="Mott"] (Carl Albert) and this is a deep roster that should be appointment viewing for college coaches this spring and summer.

Players to Watch

[player_tooltip player_id="1343195" first="Chris" last="Mason"], 6'6 Forward, Union

Athletic and strong framed forward, can battle around the rim but also step out and hit jumpers. Mason is one of the Class of 2024 prospects at the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="1367216" first="Ja'Mon" last="Valentine"], 6'3 Guard, Choctaw

The crafty scorer is a threat at the rim with a strong floater game, while also able to catch fire off the dribble from mid range and three pointer.

Carlsheon Young, 6'4 Guard, Putnam City West

Playing up in the 16U division, the Patriot guard is an athletic and high upside defender. He's also dangerous off the bounce with his combination of quickness and size.

15U

The 15U squad is loaded with backcourt talent, including the Putnam City North group of [player_tooltip player_id="1391438" first="Dominique" last="Stephens Jr"], Khai Brown and [player_tooltip player_id="1391431" first="Anthony" last="Leonard"]. Moore sharpshooter Tristan Hankins also adds to their backcourt depth.

Prospect to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="1391435" first="CJ" last="Nickson"], 6'6 Forward, Weatherford

The big man from western Oklahoma is in for an important summer of development, that should help improve his developing perimeter skills. Along with being a good shooter, he's already a physical and explosive low post presence.

Independents

Tulsa Hawks

The growing program with a healthy amount of 918 players, along with a mixture of players from across the state will be representing Oklahoma on Under Armour's Rise platform. They'll be Indianapolis this weekend. Their 17U program has one of Oklahoma's top unsigned seniors, [player_tooltip player_id="1164879" first="Aaron" last="Potter"] this weekend.

Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="1068565" first="Jarreth" last="Ingram"], 6'7 Forward, Tulsa Memorial (17U)

One of the top athletes in the Class. Ingram is the type of player that with his ability to elevate at the rim and cover ground defensively, will likely draw lots of attention from Division One programs.

[player_tooltip player_id="967378" first="Seth" last="Pratt"], 6'3 Guard, Tulsa Memorial (17U)

A sharpshooter, Pratt has the capability to knock down 4-5 threes in a half. Playing against top national competition will be good for his continually all around improvement.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295751" first="Adonis" last="Holiman"], 5'10 Guard, McAlester (16U)

Similar to his older brother, Holiman is a big time shooter. He's effective off the dribble and has range that extends pass the three point line. This summer will be big for his development as he continues to become stronger and more explosive.

Recruit Look Hoops - Indianapolis, IN

Team Buddy Buckets

One of the top independent programs in the country will be bringing 4 teams to Indianapolis for another tournament there. For their 16U program, the backcourt duo of [player_tooltip player_id="1295731" first="Jordan" last="Warrior"] (Putnam City West) and [player_tooltip player_id="1367225" first="Dontrell" last="Yearby"] (Northwest Classsen) will look to continue the tradition of tough and skilled guards showing their game translates very well to travel ball tournaments. [player_tooltip player_id="1358852" first="Cal" last="Furnish"], a quick and tough shot maker from Crossing Christian and Davon Scott, a guard that lit up the scoreboard from deep at Made Hoops' Warm Up two weeks ago, are two 15U players to keep an eye on.

Also competing in Recruit Look this weekend are more Tulsa Hawks teams and an Oklahoma Chaos team that is slightly shorthanded this weekend with only 6 players due to injuries.

17U Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="955382" first="Kevin" last="Overton"], 6'5 Guard, Sunrise Christian Academy Postgrad

The reclassified Norman North grad is already off to an explosive start this spring, as he brings great athleticism, high level contested shooting ability and swagger to the Buddy Buckets 17U team.

[player_tooltip player_id="1367214" first="Luke" last="Gray"], 6'7 Forward, Oklahoma Christian School

Only a sophomore, Gray is playing up for Buddy Buckets. He already has the frame to fit in with older players, as he's very strong and explosive around the rim. The continuing development of his three point shot, especially as a pick and pop threat, will be important to monitor this spring.

Matt Willenborg, 6'8 Forward, Norman

After moving to Norman from Florida, the skilled forward had a strong high school debut. Even with a thiner frame, Willenborg is willing to mix it up around the point. But also importantly from the modern game standpoint can stretch the floor with shooting.
