Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id="956868" first="Pryce" last="Sandfort"] (Waukee Northwest)
Stats: 26.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, 2.9 blocks, 52.6 FG%, 40.5 3P%, 89.2 FT%

This was an easy choice. Considering the competition that Sandfort plays against on a nightly basis, no player had a better season than the 6-7 sharpshooting wing who has established himself as one of the top-100 players in the 2023 class nationally. He led 4A in scoring and blocks, was third in rebounding, and led all players in the state in both free-throw attempts and made free-throws.

[player_tooltip player_id="956876" first="Chase" last="Henderson"] (Hoover)
Stats: 22.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals, 43.9 FG%, 33.6 3P%, 87.0 FT%

Henderson's strong play to open up the spring has helped him add a few more Division I offers from his haul, picking up scholarship offers from UC Santa Barbara and Montana to go with the one he already held from South Dakota. The cat-quick 5-11 lead guard is a big-time scorer and shotmaker who can fill it up in a hurry and he's an adept ball-handler and decision-maker as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="956878" first="Brayson" last="Laube"] (Marion)
Stats: 20.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.9 steals, 50.9 FG%, 41.1 3P%, 77.5 FT%

Laube had a big summer heading into his junior year, and he continued that dominant play into the high school season, showing his improved ability to create his own shot, which when paired with his elite shooting abilities, makes him an extremely difficult player to defend. He helped lead Marion to the 3A state tournament and will make them one of the best teams in the class next season as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1167671" first="William" last="Kiburis"] (Gladbrook-Reinbeck)
Stats: 21.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 3.5 steals, 1.1 blocks, 50.4 FG%, 78.1 FT%

Kiburis is a heady 6-2 lead guard with length who is a nightly triple-double threat. He can absolutely dominate games even when he isn't scoring, but he's also a good scorer who can break down the defense and get to the rim for finishes routinely. If he can iron out his perimeter stroke, he could be an elite scorer next season for the Rebels, who figure to be one of the best teams in 1A.

[player_tooltip player_id="1253020" first="Zach" last="Lutmer"] (Central Lyon)
Stats: 19.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 2.5 steals, 54.9 FG%, 41.2 3P%, 74.4 FT%

Also a standout on the gridiron, Lutmer nearly led the Lions to the 2A championship this season. A do-it-all lead guard who can impact the game in a major way even when he isn't scoring, he's a plus athlete who can finish above the rim, shoot it, and is a really good passer.

SECOND TEAM

[player_tooltip player_id="1367394" first="Preston" last="Gillespie"] (Dunkerton)
Stats: 23.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.1 steals, 1.2 blocks, 61.8 FG%, 40.5 3P%, 74.8 FT%

A long and athletic 6-3 wing who plays downhill and gets to the rim, Gillespie had a breakout junior season for the Raiders, ranking among the state's leaders in scoring and doing so with remarkable efficiency. His length and athleticism make him a difficult matchup at the 1A level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1167698" first="Jacob" last="Hargens"] (Sioux Central)
Stats: 25.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.5 blocks, 53.9 FG%, 37.3 3P%, 80.7 FT%

Few players in the state stuffed the stat sheet the way that Hargens did for the Rebels as a junior, nearly averaging a double-double as well as showing his ability to impact the game as a playmaker and defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1167686" first="Caden" last="Kirkman"] (Wilton)
Stats: 20.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals, 3.9 blocks, 62.2 FG%, 71.3 FT%

A throwback big man who can play with his back to the basket, Kirkman has incredible footwork and touch with either hand around the rim with an array of low-post moves that he can use on his post touches. He also sees the floor well and is a willing passer who gets others involved, and he's a really good defender who can protect the rim at a high level.

[player_tooltip player_id="956891" first="Douglas" last="Taylor"] (Newman Catholic)
Stats: 22.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, 60.0 FG%

An Iowa baseball commit, Taylor is a long and lean wing who does a great job playing downhill and getting to the rim routinely. He's a good athlete who uses his length effectively on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1067659" first="Padraig" last="Gallagher"] (Beckman Catholic)
Stats: 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals, 50.8 FG%, 41.8 3P%, 86.4 FT%

Gallagher is a 6-5 scoring wing who is one of the most efficient pure scorers in the state, regardless of class. He has an innate ability to get to his spots and has a pure stroke from deep. He has really worked hard to improve his handle, which has allowed him to become a dangerous three-level scorer who can put the ball on the floor and get to the bucket, using his big, physical frame to finish through contact.

THIRD TEAM

[player_tooltip player_id="956879" first="Tate" last="Petersen"] (Monticello)
Stats: 18.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.9 steals, 45.5 FG%, 37.9 3P%, 68.7 FT%

[player_tooltip player_id="956873" first="Drew" last="Kingery"] (Indianola)
Stats: 18.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.6 steals, 51.8 FG%, 35.8 3P%, 73.6 FT%

[player_tooltip player_id="1167719" first="Riley" last="Edwards"] (Southeast Polk)
Stats: 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 41.1 FG%, 32.7 3P%, 80.0 FT%

[player_tooltip player_id="956874" first="Colby" last="Collison"] (Bondurant-Farrar)
Stats: 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 54.5 FG%, 45.3 3P%, 70.5 FT%

[player_tooltip player_id="1288867" first="Da’Shon" last="Fisher"] (Liberty)
Stats: 17.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, 52.4 FG%, 30.6 3P%, 64.2 FT%

FOURTH TEAM

[player_tooltip player_id="1167690" first="Jaixen" last="Frost"] (Mount Ayr)
[player_tooltip player_id="1167717" first="Lance" last="Berends"] (Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn)
[player_tooltip player_id="1167700" first="Duke" last="Faley"] (Wahlert Catholic)
[player_tooltip player_id="956880" first="Traijan" last="Sain"] (Cedar Rapids Washington)
[player_tooltip player_id="956887" first="Cade" last="Kelderman"] (Waukee Northwest)
