Hustle Region Kickoff 16U Top Bigs

<p>This past weekend, AIMS Sportplex in Seal Beach, CA played host to one the PH Circuit’s kickoff events for the Hustle Region. I was there for Sunday, April 3 and I focused on those playing in the 16U division. Here’s a quick look at some of the top bigs I saw in 16U.</p> <p><strong>1. [player_tooltip player_id="1123041" first="Bradey" last="Henige"] - Catcus (Glendale, AZ) 2024</strong></p> <p>Henige was one of the most impressive players of the event regardless of age. He plays well with the ball in his hands and he can move off-ball as well. He runs the floor well and finishes lobs. He has good hands and is always ready for a pass around the rim. He’s active and athletic in the paint. Patient in the post when making a move to score. Off ball he flies in for offensive rebounds and put-backs. He can also handle the ball a little bit and he does a good job kicking it ahead on the break.</p> <p><strong>2. Cooper Creamer - Chaparral 2024</strong></p> <p>Creamer stood out to me for his defensive play. He makes a lot of hustle plays on the defensive end. He has quick hands and gets deflections. He’s mobile and is able to recover on drives if he gets beat off the dribble. Able to challenge/block shots at the rim. He sets good screens and does well as in pick and pop with his shooting. Good rebounder in traffic. He makes smart decisions offensively, isn’t always looking to score but to make the right play.</p> <p><strong>3. Ray Wiggins - Gregori 2024</strong></p> <p>Wiggins was one of the most impressive bigs at the event with his combination of size and skill. He gets good post position and he calls for the ball while sealing off his defender. Advanced back to the basket game for a young player. He’s strong and decisive and post up and take a couple dribbles to get closer to the rim. He can face up and shoot the short jumper in the post. Plays well in high post seeing the court or making move off the dribble. Good rebounder. Has range out to three.</p> <p><strong>4. Maurice Lynch - Valley View 2024</strong></p> <p>Lynch is a player I’ve seen before on the PH Circuit and he’s bit of a multiple position type player. He can play as a wing but I’ve seen him play as a four and small-ball five too. When he has a big guarding him, he can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. He finishes strong through traffic and he can also pull-up with a little floater. He rebounds well and can handle the ball in transiton. He can space the floor with consistent three-point shooting. </p> <p><strong>5. Jacob Munden - San Dieguito Academy 2024</strong></p> <p>Munden was a good off the ball big. He runs the floor well and fills the lanes, does well as the finisher on the break. He can handle the ball in transition and can take it coast to coast. Very good rebounder who boxes out properly and rebounds with two hands. Good offensive rebounder off misses. He sees the floor well in the halfcourt and can attack off dribble. He can shoot the turnaround jumper with good elevation. Shoots free-throws at a good clip.</p>
