The Midland Park forward had a standout 2021-22 season as he was basically unstoppable in the post. Luberoff gobbled up rebounds and was able to finish through contact around the basket.
He also has a solid face-up game as he can put the ball on the floor and knock down jumpers from behind the arc. Luberoff is one of the better shot-blockers in the class as he uses his combination of timing and athleticism to alter shots around the basket. His ability to impact the game in a variety of ways is key for the Buccaneers as they have to replace a pair of big men.
Bentley bound Joe Carroll Joe Carroll 6'7" | SF Blair Academy | 2022 State NJ had a breakout season as he provided Blair Academy with needed toughness on the interior, along with shooting and a touch around the basket. The 6’7 forward was also able to get to the rim from the perimeter and draw contact in the paint. Luberoff should fill in for Carroll on the post as the Midland Park native has the opportunity to start from the beginning.
The graduation of Lual Manyang Lual Manyang 6'10" | C Blair Academy | 2022 State #232 Nation NJ is a big loss as he provided length, athleticism and a big motor in the post. Luberoff’s finishing and shot-blocking will help fill the void, but the Buccaneers need another post to step up to give Luberoff a break during the game. Ian Imegwu Ian Imegwu 6'8" | PF Blair Academy | 2023 State NJ will get the first crack at it and has the opportunity to develop chemistry with Luberoff as both will suit up for Team Rio University this spring and summer.
The 6’8 lefty has a smooth shooting stroke and sets his feet before he shoots. Imegwu is more than just a shooter as he can also get position down low and is able to muscle shots through contact. He is tough to boxout down low and sets good screens in the backcourt.
Char Yeiy Char Yeiy 6'9" | PF Blair Academy | 2025 NJ is an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on with his combination of skill, length and athleticism. The lanky 6’9 forward shows the ability to knock down open jumpers on the perimeter and is getting more confident around the basket. Yeiy uses his length to alter shots around the basket, which should give him the opportunity to make an impact in 2022-23.
Guards Carnegie Johnson Carnegie Johnson 6'0" | PG Blair Academy | 2023 State NJ and Jayden Williams Jayden Williams 6'0" | PG Blair Academy | 2024 State NJ will have a larger role in the offense as they need to replace Oklahoma-bound Otega Oweh Otega Oweh 6'4" | SG Blair Academy | 2022 State #91 Nation NJ ‘s scoring. The former is a quick lead guard, who knows how to beat his defender off the bounce and has a nice release on his jumper. Johnson rarely forces the issue in the half court and slides his feet on the defensive end.
Williams is a gritty guard who attacks the basket hard and can finish through contact. The sophomore guard has a nice handle and is not rattled by on-ball pressure. Williams is a pesky on-ball defender as he slides his feet really well and has a knack for getting deflections.
Blair Academy got a good addition on the perimeter as Luberoff looks to make noise over the next couple of months on the spring and summer AAU circuit.
