With scheduled days throughout March, the league features some of the top talent in Southern California under one roof. I was able to attend the league on Friday March 4 and here’s a look at some additional top standouts I saw.
1. Solo Bailey – Crossroads 2025
Bailey should be one of the freshmen ready to take a big step as a sophomore. He’s explosive going to the rim. He handles the ball well and he looks to finish strong in the paint. He challenges the defense and get himself to the free-throw line. Has a lot of bounce in his game and plays with good energy. He can hit pull-up threes on the break and step into pull-up jumpers in halfcourt sets.
2. Malachi Scott Malachi Scott 6'6" | SF Long Beach Jordan | 2022 CA-S – Compton 2022
Scott is one of the better unsigned seniors out there. What’s always impressed me about his game is his ball-handling and his ability to initiate the break and go coast to coast for the finish. He’s also one of the better rebounders I’ve seen, especially fighting for second shot opportunities on the offensive glass. He’s active in the paint with a nice touch around the rim. He contests well defensively in the paint. Versatile game; can play inside or on the wing.
3. Cyprian Hyde Cyprian Hyde 6'10" | C Vista | 2023 State CA-S – Vista 2023
Hyde is a strong finisher at the rim. He’s patient with the ball in his hands and uses fakes to get the defense out of place. He moves very well without the ball and is effective in the dunker spot as a finisher. Moves well along the baseline cutting to get open. Does well as the trailer in transition. Good hands. He stays with missed shots and does well on the offensive glass.
4. Juslin Leon Bobo – SoCal Academy 2024
Bobo has all the tools to be a good interior player. He’s a good rebounder and he takes up space in the paint. He can finish well around the rim. He has some good post moves and a nice little hook shot. He’s patient, doesn’t force in the paint; goes up to finish strong. He moves well for his size and he gets out and runs in transition. Showed the ability to take shots in the midrange.
