Below we take a look at some of the standouts from the Fullcourt Press Diamond in the Rough Showcase.
Brenden Terry, LA Premier Prep – The 6-foot-7 forward was one of the more physically-imposing players in this event. Terry sports a college-ready frame and a high level of athleticism to go along with it. The former Crossroads high school standout is coming off of a prep school season and looks to be a valuable piece at the next level when it comes to transition finishing, catching lobs in the half-court setting and being a guy who can rebound and defend inside.
Isaiah Hill, We Believe Academy (CT) – Hill has great size and feel as a scoring guard. At 6-feet-4 with smooth ball handling ability and changes of speeds and pace, the unsigned prospect knows how to get to his spots and elevate over defenders for jumpers. Hill is also a consistent three-point shooter both off the catch and when creating step-back opportunities off the bounce.
Kosy Akametu, LA Premier Prep – There aren’t a lot of guys left on the board who have the combination of size, strength and athleticism that Akametu possesses. The 6-foot-4 wing is a dynamic slasher and finisher on the break whose burst, physicality on drives and ability to elevate and score with power over defenders makes him an intriguing next-level prospect who could potentially help a program right away. Akametu flashed some more comfort when pulling a three-point shot than we remember from his high school days.
Kris Krause, Bishop Montgomery – Krause will not blow you away with any size, athletic or physical traits, but when you watch him go about the game with his high basketball IQ, willingness to make the simple but smart basketball play and ability to knock down open shots, you can’t help but like what he brings to the floor. Krause is of the “basketball player” mold as he doesn’t take bad or forced shots, looks to move the ball on the offensive end, has great vision and timing on his passes, and, even in a showcase atmosphere, will err on the side of making the right play rather than seek out a highlight.
Malachi Scott Malachi Scott 6'6" | SF Long Beach Jordan | 2022 CA-S , Compton – Scott is a ball of energy and athleticism whose motor allows him to make an impact on both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-6 forward is an active offensive and defensive rebounder who creates second chance opportunities and sparks transition opportunities for his teammates. Scott is best when filling the lane and finishing on the break or slashing to open space off the ball in the half-court setting.
