Continue ReadingThe Sophomore class is a good one and we’ve already got over 100 ranked players in the class before their 16u AAU seasons start. There are several kids with modest statistics but big time potential so it’s been a tough class to figure out so far. These are the top Point Guards in the 2024 rankings. This does not include players who were in the top 10 of the rankings.
Kyran Tilley Kyran Tilley 6'1" | PG Evangel Christian | 2024 State KY , Evangel Christian – Tilley had a really solid season for an Evangel team with a lot of weapons. He was more facilitator than scorer this year because of the Eagles depth but Kyran can go and get a bucket when needed. He has to continue bulking up and getting stronger if he’s going to reach the level of recruitment that he’s looking for but he’s still got time.
Jaylan Rigdon Jaylan Rigdon 6'0" | PG Pike County Central | 2024 State KY , Pike Central – He helped lead Pike Central on a Cinderella run to the regional title game and will ride that momentum into a big summer of AAU. Jaylan is a solid guard who is wired to score but can also create open looks for his teammates once he gets paint touches. Look for him to have a chance to impress with Power Circle 16u this summer and work his way on to D1 radars.
Shaun Boykins Shaun Boykins 6'1" | PG North Hardin | 2024 State KY , North Hardin – Boykins is very athletic and strong and capable of bullying defenders who try to stop him from getting into the paint. Shaun has a good handle but can sometimes get into trouble by dribbling into traffic. With improved ball security and consistent 3 point shooting this AAU season, he can really impress some coaches.
MJ Wardlow, Bowling Green – Perhaps the quickest guard in the group, Wardlow is a blur with the ball in his hands and has shown he can be reliable as a shooter from deep. He still needs to add bulk but his frame looks like he may not be done growing yet. Watch for MJ to potentially have a big AAU season.
Quel’ron House Quel’ron House 5'11" | PG Seneca | 2024 State KY , Ballard – Another lead guard who is super shifty with the ball in his hands, House can change speeds and get past defenders. A really good finisher and distributor, Quel’ron needs to live in the gym and improve his jump shot over the summer and he will become a scholarship level prospect at the next level.
