As a high-level athlete, Josiah showed off a lot of his skills this season during a breakout junior season. Growing into a go-to scorer for the Knights in the 4A Wesco conference, he uses his length well on both sides of the ball, and his speed to get to the rack, consistently showcasing himself as a three-level scorer throughout the year. Converting 55% of his shots from the floor, the efficiency was there as well and he just has a fluidity to his game that most don’t have. Sporting averages of 18 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1 steal per game, he should be in line for a strong senior year.
Sylas Williams, 6’6, Forward, Jackson, C/O 2023
When you take a look at Sylas Williams, he instantly pops out and falls under that category of exciting prospects. At 6-foot-6 with a long wingspan, Williams tore it up this season for Jackson in Wesco 4A play. He can finish around the rim with a feathery touch in the lane, and step outside and be a threat from deep. He can grab boards at a high rate due to his ability to beat other players on the first jump and fights on the block with a high motor. Whenever he steps on the floor, he’s capable of having a 20 and 10 night, recording a double-double in each of his first eight contests for the Wolves.
Isaiah White, 6’4, SG/PG, Everett, C/O 2024
Isaiah White has one of the highest upsides of any guard in Wesco. As a sophomore, he garnered a 2nd Team All-Wesco nod and emerged as a crucial scorer and playmaker for the Seagulls, spending time at both guard positions. Isaiah has a herky-jerky style of play with the ball in his hands and creates open looks off the dribble by getting into the lane and pulling up in the mid-range. He can also operate as an off-ball scorer with long-range capability and as a secondary ballhandler. He does an excellent job of crashing the glass for a guard, grabbing 6 rebounds per game to go along with 15 ppg, 3 apg, and 2 spg. With plenty of time for more growth, White should be on everyone’s radar heading into the spring and beyond.
Zaveon Jones, 6’2, Forward, Mountlake Terrace, C/O 2024
For the 3A District 1 tournament champs, Zaveon Jones had an excellent showing for Mountlake Terrace as they navigated their way towards their first district crown since 2013. During the year, Jones showed that he is a bully in the paint. At 6-foot-2, with an incredibly strong upper-body and craftiness as a left-hander, teams struggled with guarding him when he got into position inside the key. Zaveon has a killer pump-fake in the post, and is underrated in the open court when he has an open runway, simply being able to overpower defenders en route to the hoop. The Hawks needed every one of his 12 second half points (16 total) in MLT’s championship contest.
Jaxon Dubiel, 6’1, Guard, Mountlake Terrace, C/O 2024
Jaxon Dubiel slowly became an integral part to the Mountlake Terrace rotation. Jaxon’s ability to make big plays helped the Hawks secure a district championship and 17-2 overall record. By the end of the year, the sophomore was closing big games and filled a complementary role for his team at a high level. Dubiel has a quick trigger as a shooter and usually found the ball going through the net on open shots, drilling high-momentum 3-pointers in clutch moments to help seal games. He operated well as a cutter, line-driving to the basket and flipping home buckets off feeds, as well as playing actively on defense. As someone who didn’t have the rock in his hands particularly often, he’s someone to look for as he gains more time.
Hayden Conaxis, 6’6, Forward/Post, Everett, C/O 2023
With a unique skillset, Hayden Conaxis came on in major ways during Everett’s 2021-22 campaign and gave them a different look. What’s most impressive about Hayden’s game is the way he contributes as a two-way big man. His long reach with height at 6-foot-6 help him be a major problem as a rim protector. he can be a double-double threat and It’s not uncommon to see him go for 5 blocks in a game. He has a good-looking stroke from behind the 3-point line that should get even better with time. He is great in the pick-and-roll game, being able to finish at the rack off the pass while being a threat to pop out.
