SCHSL: Playoffs

<p>The Playoffs have started here in the Palmetto State. Prep Hoops is your source for basketball coverage all year long in South Carolina. Let’s take a look at some tidbits from around the state right here. </p> <p>Ridge View HS will be looking for a new basketball coach next season. Earlier this weekend current Head Coach Yerrick Stoneman accepted the job at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA. Stoneman a former assistant coach at Oak Hill Academy under Steve Smith was at the school from 1996-2007. Stoneman has been the Blazers Head Coach for 6 seasons and has a 114-44 at the school. The Blazers have won Class 4A State Championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020 under Stoneman. The Blazers currently have won its first two playoff games this season and will play again Monday vs Fort Mill HS. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="865317" first="Greg" last="Jackson"]</strong> will take an official visit to the University of South Carolina this coming weekend. GG recently eclipsed the 1,000-point club earlier this week. Jackson scored 13 points last night in a 75-53 victory over Riverside HS. Jackson the top player in the 2023 Palmetto State Class has plenty of suitors for his services after high school. The Patriots will face Marion HS in the 2nd Round at home tonight. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="746056" first="Kory" last="Davis"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="746059" first="Kendall" last="Davis"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="930612" first="Jimeion" last="Brown"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="930604" first="LaDarian" last="McCree"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="930618" first="Jevon" last="Long"]</strong> lead this group with senior leadership. The Patriots play in Region 4-2A typically an Upstate Region are currently listed in the Lower State Bracket. If the Patriots were to win tonight, they will play the winner of Philip Simmons HS vs Latta HS in the 3rd Round. </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/8F251D38-FFBD-4920-917D-16E108678B00.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1223555" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/8F251D38-FFBD-4920-917D-16E108678B00-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="650231" first="Jordan" last="Simpson"]</strong> and the Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS Bruins have made it the Final 8 in Class 3A. The Bruins will now face region foe Fox Creek HS in the 3rd Round. Simpson came out earlier this week announcing he will do a postgrad year at Link Year Prep in Branson, MO. Simpson and the Bruins face a Predators team that just beat them 60-57 in the regular season on Wednesday in the 3rd Round of the SCHSL Playoffs. The Bruins defeated Manning HS 80-69 last night to advance. </p> <p>Speaking of the Fox Creek HS Predators. Head Coach Andrew Peckham has to be smiling after pulling off road wins this week at Loris HS 45-44 and last night vs Crestwood HS (Dalzell) 63-61. The Predators will play Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS for the 3rd time this coming Wednesday in the 3rd Round. The Winner will move on and play either Lakewood HS or Oceanside Collegiate in the Lower State Championship Game. </p> <p>Buckle up and stay right here for all the playoff coverage.
