There are two marquee events happening on President’s Day around Northeast Ohio, in this article I’ll be breaking down both the Terry Rozier invitational and the Akron Classic Play By Play Classics event.

Terry Rozier High School Invitational

Game 1 Spire @ Shaker Heights 1 P.M. tip

In the first game of the event, host Shaker Heights takes on Spire in a battle of talented guards. Spire has [player_tooltip player_id="809598" first="Roderick" last="Coffee"], [player_tooltip player_id="850724" first="Donovan" last="Smith"] and Trey Thomas while Shaker will counter with [player_tooltip player_id="921758" first="Danny" last="Young Jr"] and [player_tooltip player_id="922604" first="Kellon" last="Smith"]. Young and Smith combined for 52 points on senior night for the Red Raiders. This will be a great test prior to the OHSAA tournament for Shaker and should be an up and down entertaining game.

Game 2 Elevation Prep (IN) Vs Keystone Academy (PA) 3 P.M. tip (At Shaker Heights)

In the final game of the event, prep programs Elevation Prep and Keystone Academy meet in Ohio. Elevation Prep should bring in a talented squad as their program has been on the rise recently. Keystone Academy brings a loaded squad featuring [player_tooltip player_id="991337" first="Dellquan" last="Warren"], Yann Farrell and Marquell Darnell among others.

Akron Classic Play By Play Classic

Game 1 Uniontown Lake Vs Akron Buchtel 6:15 P.M. tip (At Canton Civic Center)

Lake has surpassed preseason expectations once again in the Federal league sitting at 14-6. They have a nice group of four seniors led by Camden Horning and should provide a nice clash of styles with a Buchtel squad looking to push the pace. Buchtel is a state title contender in Division II with [player_tooltip player_id="867954" first="Khoi" last="Thurmon"], [player_tooltip player_id="1359617" first="Zevin" last="Gadson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1359618" first="Braylin" last="Wells"]. [player_tooltip player_id="867950" first="Amire" last="Robinson"] has missed some recent games due to an injury so we’ll see if he suits up for one final tune-up before the state tournament for the Griffins.

Game 2 Oak Hill (VA) Vs STVM 8:00 P.M. tip (At Canton Civic Center)

The final game of the day features five-star [player_tooltip player_id="1041394" first="Chris" last="Livingston"] making his return to the 330 as Oak Hill takes on STVM. Livingston is joined by [player_tooltip player_id="1173210" first="Judah" last="Mintz"] and legendary head coach Steve Smith who has announced his retirement at the end of the season. STVM counters with Mr Basketball candidate [player_tooltip player_id="787627" first="Sencire" last="Harris"], Cleveland State signee [player_tooltip player_id="809600" first="Ramar" last="Pryor"] and Juniors like [player_tooltip player_id="867938" first="Lance" last="Hayes"], [player_tooltip player_id="867952" first="Darius" last="Stratford"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1181712" first="Kevin" last="Hamilton"]. Should be a fun day of basketball in northeast Ohio for those looking to make the trip.
