We get an opportunity to watch games all across the state on a weekly basis. We put together a list of the best unranked players from the event. Look for these players to make our final rankings coming soon!
Jack Riddick – Lyon County, Sophomore
Riddick is a slashing guard that makes up a dynamic backcourt for the Lyons. It has been a great evolution for Riddick since the early part of the season at Martin County and Marshall County. He is a great downhill driver and found success with floaters around the paint. Expect Riddick & Perry to get more comfortable playing in primetime games as their careers materialize. As a combo guard, Riddick needs to look for opportunities to take more shots.
Jamison Glass – Todd County Central, Sophomore
Glass is an athletic forward that gives the Rebels a shot-blocking dynamic to their interior defense. Despite his slender frame, his athletic length gives him an advantage around the ball. Although he didn’t attempt any outside shots, his touch at the free-throw line proved that he can grow that part of his game. Glass averaged 8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks during the tournament. Expect Glass to grow into a force for the Rebels as his career evolves.
Landon Colvin – Campbellsville, Sophomore
Colvin is a stout guard that has a deliberate approach. He does a great job is rarely being out of position on either end of the court. Colvin is better playing off the ball and found rhythm late in the game with a couple of catch-and-shoot jumpers. He showed how he can be a willing passer as he made the right read multiple times in the game. As his game develops, look for Colvin to become a more well-rounded offensive playmaker for the Eagles.
Will Austin – Harlan, Junior
There is a lot to like about Austin’s game. Harlan likes to spread the court and stay wide so the guards have driving lanes. Austin played above the free-throw line working on screens to allow the guards to release from their defenders. But, where Austin showcased his versatility by his ability to hunt out the ball on the offensive glass. Despite being somewhat undersized as a forward, he hustles and battles for the ball every opportunity he gets. There’s no reason Austin couldn’t average a double-double the rest of the season.
Cameron Edwards – Kentucky Country Day, Sophomore
Edwards is an athletic tweener that has a lot of potential in his game. Although the boxscore didn’t properly reflect his impact, Edwards played with toughness and agility. Look for Edwards to steadily find success if he continues putting in the hard work.
