The second annual Relentless Hoops Military Classic got started yesterday at Hargrave Military Academy, and there was high level basketball in all four games that took place.

There was a mix of high school and post grad teams, and there was tons of talent in every game.

Here’s a look at part one of the NC program standouts from day one of the event.

Be sure to tune in to the CBG Live Network to watch all of the games of this very high level event.

The dynamic twins were fantastic yet again for Liberty Heights in their thrilling overtime win over TSF, and Takai got after it and was the go-to guy throughout the game. He plays with tons of energy on both ends of the floor, he showed elite athleticism with some big time finishes above the rim and he showed he can make plays on and off the basketball and he’s a nightmare to have to match up with. He finished with 21 points and 4 rebounds in their win.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013055" first="Tajuan" last="Simpkins"] | 6’3” CG | Liberty Heights Varsity 2022

Takai may have scored one more point than his twin, but Tajuan was also fantastic on both ends of the floor and showed he’s a two way impact guy who thrives in an uptempo system. He was fantastic pushing the tempo and providing pressure defensively, he is also an athletic finisher at the rim and very good at finishing through traffic and he’s a very good playmaker as well. He finished with 20 points, 4 assists and 3 steals in the win.

Dominick Nelson | 6’4’ WF | Liberty Heights Varsity 2022

While Liberty Heights usually relies a lot on their starting five, Nelson came off the bench when a few got in foul trouble and was big time for them down the stretch, particularly in overtime. He’s a high motor wing who can play and guard multiple positions, he’s a good finisher at the rim and he hits the glass hard and keeps a lot of plays alive. He finished with 13 points and 4 rebounds in the win.

Jacob Cooper | 5’9” PG | Combine Post Grad 2022

Cooper got off to a slow start for Combine who got behind early, but he turned it up in the second half and had them within striking distance before he got hurt and couldn’t return. He was excellent in ball screens whether he used them or turned them down, he got hot from deep and showed terrific range from deep off the bounce and he knows how to finish over bigger defenders and draw contact and get to the line. He scored 15 of his team high 17 points in the second half in their loss to Hargrave.

Kai Evans | 6’3” CG | Combine Post Grad 2022

Evans is another talented guard for Combine, who is a good athlete and brings it on both ends of the floor and is able to make plays for himself and others. He’s a very quick guard who can get in the lane and break down the defense, he sits down and guards the basketball well and he’s a good finisher at the rim as well.
