There’s plenty of size across the North Carolina landscape at the NCHSAA level. Here’s a look at Part I of the 3A East Forwards/Bigs to keep eyes on.

[player_tooltip player_id="1168305" first="James" last="Scott"] | 6’9 Forward/Center | Seventy-First

Scott is one name that’s been featured in the Seventy-First frontcourt in 2021-22 as they’re off to a 13-2 start to the year. He’s producing 13.5 ppg, 11.7 rpg and 3.4 bpg as quite the breakout name in the class this season. He’s done well to show his growth as a double-double machine and presence around the rim that knows how to make an impact. He’s a prospect that DI and DII colleges should get eyes on.

[player_tooltip player_id="1352123" first="Max" last="Frazier"] | 6’8 Forward/Center | Northwood

Frazier has emerged in the Northwood High rotation in the frontcourt as a rim-protector, scorer and rebounder. He’s a long, wiry 6-foot-8 forward that can make things happen inside the arc with his ability as he’s averaging 8.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 1.5 bpg while shooting 56 percent from the field. He’s an emerging name to know with size for DII and DIII schools to track in the 2023 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368563" first="Caleb" last="Willingham"] | 6’5 Forward | Fike

Willingham is an undersized forward that’s coming along in the Fike High frontcourt. He uses all of his 6-foot-5 length and then some to battle in the paint as he’s produced 9.6 ppg and 6.9 rpg across their first 10 games of the season. He’s already posted two double-doubles including a 23-point, 15-rebound performance in an impressive win over Beddingfield High. He’s an emerging name for DII and DIII schools to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id="1323453" first="Jared" last="Davis"] | 6’6 Forward | Seventy-First

Davis is another featured name in the Seventy-First frontcourt with a knack for making things happen in the rotation. He’s been quite the presence at the 4-spot for them as he’s averaging 15.1 ppg and 6.8 rpg as the "other" playmaker in the paint for the Falcons. DII and DIII schools would be wise to get eyes on him given what he can do on the floor. He’s shooting 73 percent from the field on the season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368557" first="Kimani" last="Brantley"] | 6’6 Forward | Terry Sanford

Brantley is a new face that’s emerging in the Terry Sanford frontcourt given his size and presence in the paint. He’s producing 8.3 ppg and 5.9 rpg through eight appearances for the Bulldogs. As he continues to develop and show off his length, look for his status to grow in the class.
