Friday night featured a few top ranked teams falling across Oklahoma and one of them took place in Tulsa as 4A’s #4 Victory Christian remained unbeaten with a 67-41 win over top-ranked Heritage Hall. The Conquerors were challenged earlier in the week against Lincoln Christian but they absolutely dominated Heritage Hall in a battle of top five teams in Class 4A. The Chargers would jump out to an early lead but Victory would close out the first quarter on a run and continued that in the second quarter.
Victory Christian put this game away in the second quarter, outscoring the Chargers 21-9 in the second period to take a commanding lead into halftime. The Victory Christian dominance only continued in the second half as they would outscore the visiting Chargers 34-21 in the final two quarters to roll to the 26-point victory.
The Conquerors had four players end in double figures. Solomon Granderson led all scorers with 19 points. Joshua Udoumoh Joshua Udoumoh 6'4" | SG Victory Christian | 2022 State OK had 15 points and absolutely filled up the stat sheet with rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Forward Luke Patton finished with 14 points and finally Jaden Banner chipped in with 13 points and was incredibly efficient with his shot selection.
Granderson led the Conquerors in scoring but Udoumoh was hands down the star for Victory on Friday night. He was so smooth with the ball from start to finish and controlled this top five battle. On offense, Udoumoh showcased his offensive skillset from shooting to dropping some nasty no-look passes. However, it’s very clear that Udoumoh isn’t just a one-man band this year. Having players like Granderson, Banner and Patton give Victory Christian plenty of firepower to make a run in Class 4A. The four players were too much for Heritage Hall to contend with.
Defensively, the Conquerors played sound basketball from start to finish. Once again they were led by Udoumoh on that side of the ball but their athleticism and teamwork became a problem for the Chargers offensively. With the win, Victory Christian improved to 6-0 on the season and will take the floor at the end of the month in the Tournament Of Champions. Heritage Hall fell to 6-2 on the season and won’t return to the floor until January 4th.
Elsewhere on Friday night, 6A’s #1 Edmond Memorial suffered their first loss when they went on the road and lost to Edmond Santa Fe. 6A’s #2 Broken Arrow fell at home to Bartlesville. Friday had a few marquee match-ups across the state and they lived up to the hype.
